ArinMaya / Press

“We spend a lot of time complaining about what’s “wrong” with popular music, but there are many artists making the tunes we claim we’re longing to hear. Brooklyn-based Chicago-native ArinMaya is one of those artists. She’s soulful and earthy, without being pretentious. She’s organic and rootsy without coming off like she’s sitting with the India.Arie playbook and faking the funk. Oh, and she can sing her ass off! A Howard graduate, ArinMaya spent time honing her craft in Paris and Berlin before settling in Brooklyn’s Bedford Stuyvesant. She has performed in numerous NYC venues, including the world famous Blue Note and has been writing, collaborating and growing steadily. ArinMaya's first full-length album, Let The Love Come, created with longtime co-writer and guitarist Nick Cassarino, is meditative, sensual and loving all at once.”

“Let the Love Come is ArinMaya‘s spirit. She bears all vulnerability in this gorgeous collection of acoustic soul, championed together with her musical partner Nick Cassarino. A mixture of originals and a selection of covers which beautifully touch on romantic love, dangerous love, hopeful and/or questionable love. Being an acoustic album further emphases the many levels of love, and it’s a thing ArinMaya is unafraid of, why the album is amply entitled, Let the Love Come. Nick Cassarino‘s skillful use of the guitar gives each song depth of field, touching on soul, jazz, and folk, with their voices complimenting each other in their dance of song—it’s a lovely composition. Let the Love Come is available on Bandcamp and iTunes. Listen to “Purpose of Me,” then get yourself a copy; you deserve it!”

“I first heard the angelic voice of ArinMaya thanks to an article on Bama Love Soul, where they presented her project, the amazing Sound Of ArinMaya. I was immediately mesmerised by the lady’s voice but also deeply touched by the emotional and spiritual content of the EP. Since then, I have been playing this project regularly, while waiting for a new one. My wishes have been granted and I have been introduced to Let the Love Come, her new project in collaboration with Nick Cassarino. While her debut EP was an eclectic collection of tracks showcasing her vocal skills over varied genres which allowed her to explore different sides of her personality/art, this acoustic album is more focused on folk and soul. From the very first notes of Around to the last of Lemon Drops, I could feel chills down my spine, a smile on my face and a rush of tears to the edge of my eyes. I feel blessed every time I can experience such beauty and it helps me keep the faith in humanity and the world.”

“ArinMaya performed a few cuts off her album, The Sound of ArinMaya, including the lovely guitar-laced track, “I Want To Be Beautiful” where she sounded like a dead ringer for India Arie. Don’t take my word for it though, check out ArinMaya and her cute asymmetrical mohawk at her website, arinmaya.com.”

“With a presence reminiscent to Grammy-winning soul singer India.Arie and vocal colors similar to Oakland songstress Goapele, Indie singer ArinMaya may just be on to something great. The Chicago-born, Brooklyn-based artist treated fans to her eclectic sounds recently at the Singersroom sponsored "Sol Village" at SOBs in New York City. ArinMaya performed several songs, including the Singersroom favorite "(I Want) To Be Beautiful," lifted from her debut album, The Sound of ArinMaya, released in Spring 2010. Keep your eye open for ArinMaya!”

"...and awesome EP from the Chicago born singer...a subtle blend of jazz, soul and electrobeat done very well."
