“Blue Maggie Moves Forward — With a Familiar Face and a Bigger Sound Blue Maggie has always been about growth, harmony, and honest acoustic energy — and now we’re moving forward with an even richer sound. We’re proud to welcome JP Gaultier, a long‑time collaborator who has performed with us across both our acoustic sets and our rock shows, including memorable nights at Melbourne’s Iron Oak Post. With JP on fiddle, guitar, and vocals, we’re adding new layers of depth, rhythm, and harmony to the music you already love. More sound. More heart. Blue Maggie moves forward.”
"Looking for Lead Player' Looking for lead player that is serious about his or her guitar playing. We are in Charleston WV ares and our new genre is rock.
“Excellent Bluegrass Finally Returns This is one of the best traditional bluegrass music that I have heard in a long time. I encourage more songs and even some bluegrass gospel will sound great with their vocals. Once again this was a great sound track.”
“The Nearest Way Blue Maggie does it again! Richard - What Will He Say is my favorite song of yours EVER and all of your bass parts are ROCKIN! Cheryl - Belle of the Ball brought tears to my eyes and hearing your mandolin makes me smile! Steve - Glad you are back! Brent - Your banjo is such a great addition! KEEP IT UP, BLUE MAGGIE! ”
“The Nearest Way A continuation of showcasing the talent of this group. This is another great cd from them. THANKS!!! ”
“Heart for the Hills I bought two copies of "Heart for the Hills". Both came to me in good condition. I unwrapped one of them in the car while making my way to Pennsylvania. What beautiful music! Now I know why this group appeared center stage at Poppy Mountain! "Heart for the Hills" is new and most of the tracks are authored by the singers, but the sound is very traditional and the songs seem as though they were written long ago and perhaps found as buried treasure so to speak in between the pages of someones family Bible. I'd love to hear some new coal miner songs in your next CD. I just know Blue Maggie can come up with some new stuff that sounds like it was written during the Battle of Blair Mountain :) I'm looking forward to your next work of art!”
“Heart for the Hills i liked the album so much i ordered a second one for my brother in Florida my favorite song is daddy go on good luck great success to all Gary Fugate ”
“Blue Maggie is a three piece band with a Big Bluegrass Sound has a new release, 'Radio Blue'.”
“With their third CD, Radio Blue due for release on Sept. 27, 2010, Blue Maggie has captured the old-time style of bluegrass recording and production. The unsigned trio of Blue Maggie is: Cheryl Patrick, the key writer, vocalist and mandolin player; Brent Stapleton, vocalist, banjo, dobro, guitar; and, Richard Patrick, vocalist, upright bass, and guitar.”
“ BLUE MAGGIE- The Nearest Way By Robert Steelman This is the second release from the Charleston, West Virginia-based Blue Maggie. All of the songs were either written by Richard Patrick or by Cheryl Patrick. Richard, on bass, and Cheryl, on mandolin, are joined by Brent Stapleton, the third founding member of the band, on banjo and guitar. Some cuts also feature Stevenson Page on the guitar. The vocal arrangements vary with Cheryl and Richard taking turns on the lead. Some of the numbers are duets; Stapleton joins in on several cuts for a three-part arrangement. The songwriting talent shared by this couple is quite evident. The songs are crafted with strong lyrics, though at times you may detect a sense of familiarity among some of the melodies. Although there are several good cuts to choose from, I was drawn to Sweet Amanda, a nice tune with a lovely melody enhanced by Cheryl’s pleasant, ear-pleasing voice.
