Wow, I am really behind on checkinng my reverbnation page...
Hey, glad you like the tracks! No, I'm not from ZA... I'm Swedish-American... I live & produce about... 140 km north of Seattle, up in the mountains.
Keep an eye on my page... I have MANY new tunes coming out! ;)
Hey, thanks for your reply. Sorry you're having trouble with the fan exclusive track. To listen to it you need to click on the big 'Fan exclusive' button on the right side of the page under the player. Then click 'im already a fan' then 'i'm on the mailing list already and enter email. I don't know why reverbnation make it so fiddly but there you go.
I really enjoyed your email and no i don't think you've lost your mind at all. I totally agree that almost all christian electronic artists music sounds no different to secular and let's face it there's enough brilliant secular acts out there already. That's how i came to start out on my project because i love electronic, beat driven music but was unable to find any that was christian and carried any spirit or life. Personally, i don't see the point. So i totally agree with you on that.
I don't really use cubase anymore. I use acid pro and as it now includes midi function i use it for everything. I did once try Reason some years ago and i must say judging by your songs it sounds fantastic.
I am so pleased to have discovered another christian artist who loves psytrance and Goa but who is also sold out for Jesus. My favourite secular artists are Shpongle, Hallucinogen, Infected Mushroom, Younger Brother, Psychopod, prometheus, eat static.
I don't agree that goa trance is evil in itself. I do agree that some of the lifestyles that go along with it are evil and a lot of the eastern superstitious claptrap that is often sampled in tracks is a bit iffy. I have always loved anything psychedelic beginning from pink floyd and hawkwind. I think that pychedelic, evolving sounds have the ability to really take you somewhere and i feel that combining this with living words and messages is a perfect mix for me. I also love fusing various sounds and cultures to keep the sound interesting. I don't have a contract or anything. i have only been seriously making this music for about a year so i suppose you'd call it a hobby. Like i said i started producing it for my own listening cus i couldn't find any electronic/pschedelic christian music.
I am still in the process of defining my sound but to me the messages in the songs will always be the priority. Recently, i have been producing a lot of down tempo tracks but i'm about to start work of a few more up tempo tunes. I think with the psytrance genre of today there is a lot of space for variation so you don't just have to be limited to a certain sound. What do you think of my remix of what does it feel like. Phat Catt is a good example of my more psychedelic tunes. I think i might have to invent a new genre:'psychetronic gospel' or 'Gospedelic stomp' or something....hee,hee
Like you said the Goa sound is really difficult to get. I've had a go at it in the past and ended up sounding dreadful. I do really want to develop more psytrance tracks though. Like i said before the most important thing though is the message.
Please keep in touch. It is great and refreshing to meet someone else in this field who is sold out for the king.
God bless you and i'll be looking for you on my praize.
