Summertime!

Okay so summer is a great time to tour, but if you are not on the road, here a few tips to keep your band running like a business.

1. BAND AGREEMENT: meet with an Entertainment Attorney to get a band agreement in place. Everything is cool right now, but chances are, down the road, members will move on and you need to paperwork in place to cover yourselves.

2. BMI,ASCAP,SESAC etc. - What are you waiting for? If you have tracks on iTunes, you need to make sure that (you) and those songs are also registered with a performance rights organization. Get it done. I know you don't like paperwork....that's why you play music and don't work in an office...but trust me, you need to do this.

3) FACEBOOK/MYSPACE/WEBSITE: Time to do some housekeeping. Go through your photos and DELETE those old press photos from 3 years ago. You know you hate it when a promoter puts together an awesome flyer for a show and there you are with the bass player that quit over a year ago and you were going through your 'guyliner' phase. If you don't want those photos used...delete them.

4. VENUE GRATITUDE: Take an hour to send out messages via FB, Email and text thanking promoters and venue owners for booking you. Don't ask for anything. Just let them know you were thinking about them and wanted to let them know that you are grateful for their business. You know you love it when you get those random thank you cards in the mail from your dentist/realtor. The same principle applies here. An attitude of gratitude will always net profits and great karma.

Have a great Summer!
