New & Local Releases + Lisa Cordes & Prop 8 Trial + The Barclay Martin Ensemble
Mark will play New & Local Releases from: The Grisly Hand, Sufjan Stevens, Sara Swenson, Barclay Martin Ensemble, Les Izmore, Karen Elson, Lucy Wainwright Roche, The National, The Appleseed Cast, Nicolette Paige, and others.
At 10:30 Mark talks with Playwright, Actress and Director Lisa Cordes about her new play "Prop 8 On Trial" based on the California Prop 8 trials. " Prop 8 On Trial" will be performed on Saturday, September 18, at 7:30 PM at Lawrence Arts Center, and four additional performances: Wed., Sept. 22, Thurs., Sept. 23, Fri., Sept. 24, and Sat., Sept. 25 at 8:00 PM, at The Fishtank Performance Studio.
Prop 8 On Trial will feature Kansas City Actors: Bryan LaFave, Crystal Gould, Dan Barnett, David Wayne Reed, Gail Bronfman Bunch, Gary Neal Johnson, Grant Wayman, Jeanne Averill, Kelly Main, Matt Weiss, Phil Fiorini, Philip Hooser, and Terry Newel.
At 11:15 Mark welcomes members of The Barclay Martin Ensemble who will share songs from their new recording. The Barclay Martin Ensemble will have a New Release Concert, Friday, Sept. 24, at 8:00 PM, at The Folly Theater, 300 W. 12th St. KCMO. The Concert will include sights and sound created by Quixotic Fusion. Barclay Martin is also launching an new partnership with the international nonprofit group Water.org to help in their efforts to drill much-needed wells, build sanitation systems and support educational programs to serve in the Kyuso District of Kenya. A portion of proceeds from our the release will go to support the Barclay Martin Ensemble Project for Clean Water and Sanitation in the Kyuso District of Kenya. For more info: BarclayMartin.com

Dollar Fox will be in concert Wednesday, October 27 at The R Bar, with Oriole Post. And on Tuesday, November 2, at the recordBar, with The Peculiar Pretzelmen!

Wednesday, October 20, we'll play more Local & New Releases from Husky Rescue, Howard Iceberg & The Titanics with Abigail Henderson & Chris Meck, The Beautiful Bodies, Arcade Fire, The Caves, Clinic, Sufjan Stevens, and others.
At 10:30 we'll talk with Singer and Songwriter Megan Birdsall and Hermon Mehari who about a block party that is happening in front of the Mutual Musicians Foundation on Oct 22, from from 8:00 PM to Midnight, featuring live music, artist booths, dancing, and food. Then there will be jam sessions happening inside starting at 1:00 AM.
At 11:00 we'll welcome Guest Host and Producer, Don Simon who joins us for the hour. DFon will play music from: Camper Van Beethoven, The Church, Concrete Blonde, Dramarama, An Emotional Fish, Guadalcanal Diary, Hoodoo Gurus, Liz Phair, Material Issue, Peter Murphy, The Replacements, Throwing Muses, The Pixies and XTC.
Don used to be a disk jockey, a television producer, and now works as an entertainment attorney and college professor. He is an Attorney, who specializes in Business Consulting, and Media. He is an Adjunct Instructor The Art Institutes International-Kansas City, he is an Adjunct Professor at Kansas City Kansas Community College. He received his Master of laws degree in intellectual property from The John Marshall Law School. He's also a Member of the Board of Directors for 90.1 FM KKFI - Kansas City Community Radio.

A Story In A Song + The B'Dinas Live!
In our first hour, from 10 to 11, we'll present our special quarterly installment "A Story In A Song" a program where we invite special guests to shre a story about a song that significantly changed their life in some way, and then we'll her that song. Special contributors include: Maria Vasquez Boyd, David Wayne Reed, Matt Jacobs, Jeremy Lillig, Philip Hooser, Heidi Van and Charles Ferruzza.
In our second hour, at 11:15 we'll talk with KC based band The B'Dinas who include: Katy Guillen, Meredith McGrade, Peter Lawless, Katelyn Boone, and Tess Jehle. A few weeks ago, Meredith McGrade was in a pretty bad car accident. She is at home now and doing well, but still healing before she can play with the band again. In The meantime the B'Dinas have organized a Benefit consort to help Meredith with all of her medical expenses.
