The Music of Howard Iceberg & The Titanics
Mark welcomes special guests: Scott Easterday, Danny Alexander, Elaine McMilian, Pat Tomek, and Howard Iceberg who discuss the musical evolution of Howard Iceberg & The Titanics, and their new record release.
We'll talk about the big show: "Raising the Titanics, An Evening with the Music of Howard Iceberg," to be held, Sunday, June 26, 7:00 PM, at Crosstown Station, 1522 McGee, Kansas City, MO. Over 50 of Kansas City's best musicians will perform the music of Howard Iceberg. Money collected from the $5 door fee will be donated to KKFI 90.1 FM.
Over 50 musicians will interpret the music of Howard Iceberg. Scheduled performers include: Micah Boise, Lin Buck, Richard Burgess, Steve DiFranco, Mike Dolembo, Scott Easterday, Betse Ellis, Amy Farrand, Keith Galusha, Nate Gawron, Troy Geoghegan, Richard Gintowt, John Greiner, Abigail Henderson, Tim Higgins, Scott Hrabko, Dutch Humphreys, Howard Iceberg, Mike Ireland, Lauren Krum, Tony Ladesich, Jeff Larison, Vincent Lawhon, Barry Lee, Elaine McMilian, Jerad Meadows, Chris Meck, Dan Mesh, Josh Mobley, Brendan Moreland, John Nichols, Doug Osburn, Gary Paredes, Marco Pascolini, John Parker, Sam Platt, Michelle Sanders, Ike Sheldon, Bill Sundahl, Kasey Rausch, Chad Rex, Matt Richey, Tildon Snow, Dave Stewart, Pat Tomek, Beth Ann Tummons, Emily Tummons, Phil Wade, Cheri Lu Woods, Cody Wyoming.
Mark will feature songs, hand picked by Howard Iceberg, from his long-awaited new 7-CD set, "Welcome Aboard." This release includes over 100 new songs, featuring the current line up of The Titanics: Gary Paredes on lead guitar, Dan Mesh on rhythm guitar, Scott Easterday on bass, Pat Tomek on drums. "Welcome Aboard" also includes musical contributions from over 70 local artists, many listed above, who have joined Howard. This new release represents the last seven years of Howard's "never-ending recording project" conducted in Pat Tomek's home studio. "Welcome Aboard," will be released for the first time on June 26, at Crosstown Station.

At 11:15 Musician and Radio Host - Jeff Harshbarger joins us to discuss "Race Riot Suite" the new release from the Tulsa Oklahoma, based band Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey. "Race Riot Suite" is the band's 20th album, written by Chris Combs for the current quartet of Brian Haas on piano & keyboards; Josh Raymer on drums; Chris Combs on lap steel; and Jeff Harshbarger on upright bass. For this recording the band is accompanied by a horn section consisting of: Steven Bernstein of Sex Mob; Jeff Coffin of Dave Matthews and Bela Fleck fame; Mark Southerland of Snuff Jazz and Malachy Papers; Peter Apfelbaum; and former JFJO member Matt Leland. The album is dedicated to the victims of the 1921 Tulsa race riot, the largest race riot in United States history.
Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey will be in concert at Crosstown Station, 1522 McGee, on Friday, Sept. 16, with The Hearts of Darkness, in one of the final shows at Crosstown Station before it is overtaken by IHOP.
