If someone asks you about "Rock en Español" in Chicago, it's usually with a nostalgic gleam in their eye. About how they remember "a time when..." And I am not referring to the POP aspect of it that was allowed to be pumped in the clubs, I am talking about the 'd-i-y shows' put together in restaurants and any available clandestine space that would allow bands to perform live. Most of the recollections involve a sense of community, how people supported the 'scene', and how the music was really good. It would be impossible to try and capture all that history in a quick blog post, you'll just have to wait for the documentary that is currently in production.
But... to make a long story longer, most certainly one of those bands, instrumental in making that starry-eyed trip down memory lane conjure on demand was 'Uno de Mas'. ANd as fate would have it, most of whose members are currently in 'KELROY'.
As [.DESCARGA.] it's always an honor and privilege to perform along side our friends and quite frankly veteranos of the Rock en Español movement in Chicago.
For those thinking of coming out to try an hear some old 'Uno De Mas' tracks in English, you are sorely mistaken. Kelroy is in no way just 'Uno de Mas' with a new vocalist. They have all grown as musicians and have evolved into a new sound fused by the enigmatic vocal slather of their front-man.
Yes, most of the people performing at The Elbo Room on October 12th were integral parts of a Rock en Español movement long gone by, and I include the members of [.DESCARGA.]. On October 12th, you will get to see them all sharing the stage together again, only with more wear-n-tear, a bit more grit in their smile, and perhaps a new vision to share. Either way, it's what has become of two of "those bands" from back when.
Honestly, it would be a magical night regardless if a single note was played at all. We'd love to see you there and grow our consciousness, because after all we are all just legends in our own minds.

We've had a blast this year making music, recording and ultimately being able to share all of this with live performances. There have been some killer shows this year and we're hoping 2012 is even better. We'll be recording new material for the coming year as well as doing more touring to continue promoting this year's release "The Things We Do." If you haven't already done so, please support our efforts by downloading and reviewing our music and coming out to our events. We work hard to make you proud of what we do.
Our last show of 2011 will be Sunday, December 11th at Ultra Lounge. It also includes music by DJ Resistol Cincomil of 88.7FM WLUW. Make sure to come join us. It will be a great time and a good way to see you one last time before the New Year. See you then!

Ear Worms: CHEMTRAILS
Posted on September 23, 2010
Ear worm: the one song that gets stuck in my head and refuses to escape. Today’s worm comes to us from friends o’ the blog and mainstays of the latin alternative community, [.DESCARGA.] with their new song “ChemTrails” which was recorded atBLUE DOOR/RMS Recording Studios in Chicago’s own Pilsen neighborhood. The band’s lead singer/songwriter Hex Garcia talked to me a bit about the song:
The song CHEMTRAILS is a quick look at a topic we should all be paying more attention to as citizens of Earth. The very sky we live under is being changed (in our lifetime) literally right ABOVE our noses. Written more to “ask questions” than to “provide answers”, CHEMTRAILS the song may for many be the beginning of their own personal investigation on the topic. Do searches, find videos, get informed. What do you think about CHEMTRAILS?
I’m digging the girtty guitar hook in this song and am glad to see [.DESCARGA.] enter darker rock territory. Check out the song below. I’ve been told we can expect to hear new music from the boys later this year and have been experimenting with their sound and are even writing lyrics in English. If this is any indication of where things are headed then I cannot wait to hear what’s next!
