I was thinking I should give the low down on the state of Whitefire for the interest of newfound fans. Whitefire began after my reign with local Vancouver band, Blackburn X, came to an end. My brother(Lee Knowles Blackburn founder) and I started Blackburn as a studio project with no intentions of actually recording an album and forming a full band. We wanted a vocalist and through an annoying process we found Brent Hampton. At first Brent shunned us but he came around with the help of my brother's influence and that with a little patience and practice, Brent would become a better vocalist. You see, Brent has a superb ability to grasp onto many songs at once and come up with different melody lines and lyrics in 5 minutes. So we found our star vocalist and then it was decided to actually make a real full length album. So fast forward throughout 7 or 8 months, in and out of Eljay Records studios in Mission, BC & low and behold our album became a reality. My wife and I had bought our first home together on Vancouver Island, before the band decided to actually play live. So my wife and I moved and in the end a somewhat mutual agreement was made for me to leave Blackburn as travelling to perform live would not work. So...here I was bandless and having to begin from scratch. Brent was crucial in councelling me to create my own studio band and has always remained confident that my music has a feeling of it's own, which I truly appreciate, not to mention he came up with the name "Whitefire" which we saw as a "Blackburn" spinoff. So here we are on this beautiful august summer day with a great feeling about what I've created, what I'll continue to create and the surprising direction Whitefire will be able to go. Stay tuned in drop C my friends.
Regards,
Jim of Whitefire
