Who made the cut for Bite My Music Global Awards (Rest Of The World Finalists)

The Bite My Music Team released the finalists for the “rest of the world” pool for the upcoming Bite My Music Global Awards finals. The following musicians selected from more than 50 countries will face-off against the main winners from the GAMA (Global African Music Awards), VIMA (Malaysia/Singapore/Brunei) and IndieGo Music Awards (South Asia).

Each finalist will be placed into their exact categories of their genre to be announced on Feb 29th. The categories are:

Best Pop Song, Best Pop Act, Best Rock Song, Best Rock Act, Best Hip-hop/Rap Song, Best Hip-hop/Rap act, Best Dance Song, Best Dance Act, Best World/Reggae Act, Best Genre Bending Song, Best Collaboration, Best Female Act and Best Instrumental.

The Bite My Music team will also hold a second pool which will contain musicians who will be selected as “wildcard” entries before the grand finals. These entries will be filtered from 2nd and 3rd place of all the various sub-awards as well as the pool of musicians who did not make the initial cut for the rest of the world.

The winners of GAMA will be announced on January 30th while the winners of VIMA will be announced on February 19th during an awards ceremony on the ground in Kuala Lumpur.

“Just like the World Cup, these privileged finalists will now wait for their opponents to finish their own qualifying rounds according to their regions and join them. In this case the qualifying rounds being the winners of GAMA and VIMA as the winners of the South Asian IndieGo awards was announced last week. The grand finals will see musicians from all over the world face-off against each other and there will be a 2 week online voting period that will make up 30% of the scores and the remaining 70% of the scores will be determined by the global judges. We expect the winners to be announced by Mardch 31st,2012″ said Siva “Zaphod” Chandran, founder of all the music awards and also COO of Saintz & Sinnerz.

“We had a stunning number of entries from the middle east, Hong Kong and Indonesia and its heart warming to see so many female acts who made it as finalists. The Best Female Act category is certainly going to be interesting as we have rock groups fronted by female musicians and all girl groups too. Its an eclectic bag of finalists and we have the highest respect for all musicians who made the effort to register with our awards platform. The Bite My Music Global Awards, organized by Saintz & Sinnerz, is considered as the “World Cup of Independent Music”, bringing together winners from different music awards of different regions to pit against each other in a grand finals.

Bite My Music Global Awards Grand Finals will begin on February 29th as the finalist will go though one final round of public voting for 2 weeks, and then another round of scores from Global judges made up of celebrities, awards winners,music industry experts,international media and more.

Since the 80’s he was the vocalist and guitarist of an alternative rock band which lead him to becoming the guitarist in an electro-rock unit JOUJOUKA with DJ Tsuyoshi in 1998. Around the same time he was also djing and has played at every big event going including Fuji Rock and he has also played amazing sets for 2 years running on Bali Island at New Years Eve parties. As an artist he is innovative and constantly evolving. Since around 2004 he began incorporating his guitar playing in his DJ sets and tries to explore new musical territory in real time. People love him and his funky electro sound in the clubs and parties here in Japan. He is constantly busy with making tracks and doing remixes for his own solo project as well as for projects with Joujouka. He released one of his solo tracks TAKE IT TO THE FIRE, worldwide on the Tsuyoshi’s local MAD SKIPPERS label in 2004 under the artist name Minoru. In 2007 he released BURNING feat. Ninjarette under the name Funky Gong with other releases and a solo album in the pipeline. He is one to watch.

Freight Train feat.Marcellus Nealy Funky Gong wanted to make Freight Train as something like “funky” and “rocky” track, so he collaborated with Marcellus Nealy who sang with Johannes Heil before. They started to be jamming with Funky Gong’s guitar riff and Mercellus’s elektro-funky voice. This track gets the crowd funky feeling and FREIGHT TRAIN to it!

Rectifier Rectifier is well emotional and heavy electro-rocky tunes ! Funky Gong begun from synth noise rather than his bass guitar line as usual but it ended up as guitar-rocky elektro dark style. He likes it and already proved to the dance floor from his DJ set that crowds really loves it coz’ this is FUNKY GONG style !
