If you love music...

There's been some grumblings about the changes on Reverbnation and I suppose there is some legitimacy to those grumblings but the essence of what this website is remains true... it's about the music and the artist and there are some incredible artists playing some incredible music here on Reverbnation. The opportunity, the privilege, to hear some of these people in the infancy of their music careers... It's easy to miss the big picture when we're focused on our own music. As individuals we are just a small part of what makes this website unique. As a group we make this website stand out. Each musician, each song, adds to the essence of what Reverbnation is. Keep writing, keep playing, keep singing... but most of all keep listening... it's easy to fan one another... it's much more fulfilling to actually listen to what's being created... Keep your ears open and listen! Peace...

Fans? Not Really....

I've visited a lot of talented musicians, singers and song writers on Reverb Nation. Every time I've become a fan of someone I listen to their music first then decided if I would become a fan of theirs. I didn't become their fan because I expected them to become my fan as well. I did it because I respected the talent and effort they put into their music. The number of fans on my Reverb Nation site continues to grow but the number of song plays remains the same. This tells me that the "Fans" are not listening to the music. Why bother becoming a fan if you don't take the time to stop and listen. Being a reciprocal fan isn't being a fan at all. If this is happening on my page it's happening on your page. It's disrespectful to the musician and Reverb Nation but mostly it's being disrespectful to yourself. You're telling everyone that you're a fan of music you've never listened to. If you're one of these people, wake up and stop being a phony. Become a fan if you like what you're listening to... show a little respect for your fellow musicians... show a little respect for yourself...

I'm of the same mind set. If it is music that I enjoy I become a fan, if it is well done but not my cup of tea, I will like it but not necessarily become a fan.

i agree, i don't log on reverbnation all that much anymore because of the amount of spam i have to endure. and the shameless self promotion musicians/bands do is very demeaning .. i can't do that either. if the music is good, word of mouth is generally sufficient.. right? interesting rant :)

I couldn't agree more, well said. I fan a lot of people, sometimes their music doesn't blow me away, sometimes it does. As a songwriter, often I'm hearing past the production and vocals, just to hear if it's a good song. Many times it isn't (in my opinion), but often I'll fan the artist to applaud the effort and let them know they're heading in the right direction. Let's face it, often we're hearing amazing songs here too. I see it as an online community, a place to hear great new songs and new artists, and a place to find inspiration. Keep up the great work. Amazing Talent

I've been listening to a lot of music on Reverb Nation and am amazed at all this undiscovered talent. There's everything from Pop to Gospel to Country to Rock and it's simply amazing. Every day I find something new and I've just begun to touch the surface. Listen to the music, you won't regret it!

Another Day...

I thought it was time to start a little blog and let anyone who visits see inside this wandering, wondering mind. So if the canvas is blank, don't worry, I'm probably on a walk about inside my head. I've been writing songs for a long time. I'm always on the hunt for what I see as a perfect song. I've never written one but I keep trying. The right combination of lyrics, music and rhythem with just a touch of a haunting feel. Something that grabs the musician and the listener with equal pull. It's always just beyond my grasp. I've written a few that I thought "This could be it" only to pick up my guitar later and try to capture whatever I felt at the time and just not feel it anymore. It can be a real struggle at times. The guitar sits on it's stand sometimes for days or weeks at a time beconing me... screaming at me "Pick me up and play". other times I don't put it down until my fingers are too sore to go anymore... yep, sometimes it's a real struggle but I love it. I love to play and create and now I'd like to find an audience who would like to hear my songs. Time will tell....
