I sure am lucky my head is connected to my body or I'd surely forget it somewhere. Saturday night I performed at Baywood Greens in Long Neck, DE and when I packed up my equipment I walked right out without my $499 guitar foot pedal! Doh! Thank goodness one of the employees saw it and set it aside for me.

The weather was so beautiful last night that Joe Sheridan asked if I would play upstairs out on the deck. It was awesome! He really has it set up nice. We had a nice little crowd and I look forward to playing out there again!

I guess there was a reason I couldn't sleep tonight...I finished writing "I'll Watch Over You". The peacefulness of the early morning hours (3am) has always been the best creative time for me. But...now that I'm done....Melatonin...here I come!

Had a great recording session with Doug James on Friday night. We're working on a song we co-wrote with lyricist Geoff Vernon called "Sara's Hair". It's a beautiful song and Doug sings it so well. I layed down a simple piano track and then followed it up with acoustic guiatar and bass tracks. When Doug sits down to the piano, however, the song really takes off. It makes my playing sound like "chop sticks". :-) We're hoping the song makes it on his upcoming CD due for release in October. www.DougJamesMusic.com

Had a wonderful cookout tonight to celebrate Father's day and my Mom and Dad's birthdays. Mom turned 76 yesterday and Dad turned 79 today. Our kids were all able to make it (which is rare these days....plug in the song "Cat's in the Cradle" here...). These are the days I love the most.

Did a benefit for Senator Nancy Cook tonight at Frazier's in Dover, DE. She had a great turn-out and I got a chance to see lots of folks I haven't seen in a while. It's hard to believe, but Nancy's been a Senator for 36 years!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day Holiday.
This week my friends in Newark will have 2 opportunities to hear me perform. Tuesday June 8th at Soffritto Italian Grill on Kirkwood Hwy. and Thursday June 10th at the Academy Lawn on Main Street at 7pm for the City of Newark's Spring Concert Series. This year the City of Newark is showcasing singer/songwriters and I am so thrilled and honored to be chosen to perform. The concert will be from 7pm-8pm and will feature my very talented friends: Paul Donovan (guitar and vocals) and Ron Orland (Percussion). Make sure to bring a lawn chair and/or a blanket. We're going to have a blast so we sure do hope you can make it!
Then....Saturday June 12th I will be performing in Long Neck,DE at the beautiful Baywood Greens from 6:30pm-9:30pm.
Have a wonderful week and as always....thank you so much for your love and support!

This is my first newsletter using "FanReach". As you can see...this is quite a bit more elaborate than what I was using. I hope you like it. I have so many goals for the next 12 months and building a larger fan base will be crucial to any further success. Most importantly, a new CD of original material will be on the way. I am still writing and collaborating.
I am proud to announce that my friend and mentor, Doug James, has decided to record and release on his upcoming CD a tune we co-wrote with Geoff Vernon called "Sara's Hair". His CD is planned for a September release. He has also asked me to do some shows with him...possibly opening up. This will be a real thrill and I will let everyone know as the shows materialize. I encourage you to visit Doug's site and check out all the tunes he's written. www.DougJamesMusic.com . Under "Looking for Songs" you can hear the hits he's written and rare demos from unreleased tunes he wrote with Michael Bolton, Dan Hill, Shelly Peiken and so many more. This is a treasure of a site and I know you will love it. Please sign Doug's guestbook...and tell him I sent ya.
A couple special announcements.....this Wednesday night (June 2) at JW's I'll be celebrating my birthday so please come on out and join us. It's going to be a great time. Then, starting this Sunday (June 6th) and continuing on throughout the summer....my father in law...the awesome Mike Hodgeman will be joining me at JW's for an early evening of great R&B tunes. We're in the process of adding lots more classic tunes for you so we hope you'll join us. In addition JW's is going to start serving crabs. So if you love the tasty crustaceans...please join us. At this moment it appears we're going to be performing 4pm-8pm. But since this is a new thing that time might change. I will send out announcements if it does.
Love and Good Health to you and yours,
Sol

When I pulled up to Trader Lees last night I thought....uh-oh...this is not going to be good. TL's is a Rock Bar....Biker Bar looking place with classic rock blastin' when you walk in the door. I wasn't sure my little rinky dink solo act was going to fly. But, as luck would have....everyone had a great time. Whew! I was really worried. In fact, the manager...Rod got up and played drums with me for a whole set of music and we rocked! Then a guy named Shelby got up (Dread Locks and all) and played harmonica and sang with us. Awesome night! I have to thank Helen at Group E Publicity for booking me. Can't wait to go back!
