Artist Bio
"Born on the dark side, lookin for the bright side . . . I found the sun through my music."
Robert Johnson is a solo recording artist and performer who has toured nationally and internationally. While his music is enjoyed throughout the world, he is most popular in the U.S., the Philippines and Japan. This vocalist and guitarist, who performs exclusively on vintage guitars, has been playing music for generations of fans.
Robert grew up in Detroit, in a musical family that includes many performers. His parents encouraged and guided his music in the church. Robert’s first solo concert was at 10 years old. Later years brought mentorship with a nationally renowned blues musician. Although Robert is proficient in several instruments, including piano, horn and drums, his instrument of choice is acoustic guitar, which he uses to accompany his expressive vocals.
Robert’s playlist includes rock, pop, country and blues. He adapts the music to the audience and creates an energy they love. The crowd usually sings along to the likes of Eric Clapton’s “Layla”, Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline” or Jimmy Buffett’s “Margaritaville”, and a variety of other covers. He mixes in his own songs, such as “Girlfriends” and “Save Your Soul”. At a Robert Johnson performance, there is something for everyone, and everybody has a good time.
