Over the past few months Brian Foster and I have been working on our goal to have One Click Culture booked for a show at least once a month. At first this seemed like it would be a pretty simple thing. We've found that is not the case at this point in our career. We send lots of email and message through Facebook, make phone calls and leave messages and spend a lot of time tracking down venues that are open to what we're doing which is performing original music that we think people will like once they get a chance to hear it. Some venues have stepped right up and offered us a hand - The Bside Ballroom in Oneonta, the Cyber Cafe West in Binghamton and Sidney's Vorshtein festival have all given us a shot. More often than not the response we get when we ask for a show is silence. Not even a Thanks but No Thanks. So, what we're asking for is some help from our friends here in NY. If you like our music, mention us to your favorite bar, tell some friends about us, share our music with them, give them a link to our various web sites. We've all heard bands thank their fans with a "We can't do this without you!" and while we can continue to write and practice music without you it is ultimately our greatest goal to share the music with you and with your help to create an experience that we can all enjoy. That's the team we want to build and we want you on that team. Hope to see you at a show soon!
We've been putting in some additional time to try to get some cool gigs lined up for 2012. Our first show of the year at the John Barleycorn in Owego was a blast and we carried the vibe all the way up to Ithaca where we were joined by Great Scott at the Nines.
Next Saturday we'll be recording for a WHRW broadcast in the near future. We'll be recording at BU again later in March and hopefully we'll have a new track to share from that session.
In April we'll be joining Tempest for a show at the Oneonta Theatre. This is a reunion of sort - Michael's first gig with us was back in April 2010 opening for you guessed it - Tempest! Plus Todd spent three years touring with Tempest and even remembers a tune or two so look for a jam that night.
In July we'll be performing at our third Vorshtein concert in Sidney, NY - don't know what Vorshtein is? Google it and you'll find that it is a very cool, laid back day of music featuring musicians from the Sidney area. Lots of great bands this year to come on out!
Later in July we're hoping to return to Owego for a festival - stay tuned on that one.
All throughout this we'll be working on new material some of which we've been playing at recent shows.
Lots going on the our world - we need you to help spread the word though - share our page on Facebook, send friends a link to our website and tell them how cool the music is. You know the drill.
October is winding down and personal lives are getting in the way of the band for a couple of weeks. This happens when adults with jobs decide to take on an artistic project. So, what to do? I've been recording sonic doodles again, hoping that if I do enough of that some of them will inspire the rest of the band and we'll have a bunch of new songs before too long. So sit back, relax and be patient. The key is to keep showing up even if things aren't moving as quickly as you'd like. Just keep showing up.
