Momentum building for ‘Good Music’
The buzzword on FitZ is “MOMENTUM.” They’ve got that going full throttle with their new album’s songs being played on radio and TV stations in Canada and the U.S.
“From the Beginning” CD by FitZ that debuted in July is quickly picking up fans who love the direction that Greg and Dave Fitzpatrick have taken with the new songs. A little bit country and a little bit rock & roll have really come down to two words: “Good Music.”
The brothers have been making good music for decades, separately in different bands, and together as FitZ. Homemade, homegrown talent has been apparent in these artists who write, play, perform and produce original songs.
DJ, Kimba Clemmons who hosts a show on Hampton University’s radio station in Hampton, Va., said recently of FitZ that their well-written songs can be used by a diverse group of performers and bands to fit the individual style and genre of the artists using it. He was referring to “Cardboard Condo” and “Internet Radio,” two fan favorites that are the most requested songs at FitZ concerts.
FitZ full 6-piece band played to thousands in Bay Roberts, NL. Aug. 20 as the event was aired live on TSN, a country-wide sports network.
They will be featured Sunday, Aug. 22 on K-ROCK 97.5 on the network’s “Under the Influence” hour-long show that will explore the artists and events that influenced the Fitzpatricks’ songwriting and music over the years. Six FitZ songs will be aired, as well as some of the songs from the artists they admire most.

Two brothers, one dream, and a new album representing the long musical careers of both is about to happen. “From the Beginning” CD with 10 original songs and a bonus features Greg and Dave Fitzpatrick at their best: writing, performing and producing. The album, produced in Nashville and completed in Newfoundland, has country-inspired songs with a blend of rock and roll that fits many genres.
With literally hundreds of songs to their credit, the brothers chose a cohesive collection for the CD that not only showcases their immense talent, but pays homage to the music they’ve loved since childhood. Country music legends like Hank Williams, George Jones and Willie Nelson have provided a solid foundation of good music that resonates in the songs on the new album.
Known for their music variety, and especially apparent on “FitZ’s” first CD, “Out of the Blue,” the brothers, have a wide range of songs that appeal to a diverse audience. The new album, however, showcases and melds the strength of the brothers into a hearty, well-selected lineup that is reminiscent of earlier groups like The Eagles and The Young Rascals with the soul and heart of country music.
Greg’s velvet voice mellows out intense lyrics on some songs while Dave’s deeper, often soulful delivery brings the songs to life. The harmony is pure magic with a richness that gives “FitZ” its recognizable sound.
From ballads like “After the Show” to the extremely danceable, “Internet Radio,” fans will love the new album. Also included on “From the Beginning” CD is the song, “Cardboard Condo,” a first-person account of being homeless in today’s society. Greg wrote the song to bring public awareness to the plight of our country’s growing homeless population. It’s included as a bonus track.
The new CD was released on Saturday, July 3rd at 8 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus in South River, Newfoundland. Dave and Greg performed all the songs “From the Beginning” with the full FitZ band for the first time to a packed house.
The CD IS NOW available for purchase on all “FitZ’s” websites soon. Please checkout, www.thefitzbrothers.com; www.myspace.com/fitzbrothers; and www.myspace.com/fitzmanager.

“FitZ BlitZ” is heating up and promises to melt this season’s snow as the band prepares to trek south this week. The much-anticipated “From the Beginning” album that features a wide variety of Greg and Dave Fitzpatrick’s music will be recorded in a state-of-the-art studio in Nashville. A November debut of the CD was put on hold pending the plan to give “FitZ’s” music the incomparable sound and quality that only a well-equipped, superior recording studio can provide.
The album’s 10 original songs show the diversity in lyrics and music the Fitzpatrick brothers are known for, while staying true to their core values – writing, singing, performing and producing excellent music that is timeless. “Internet Radio,” a favorite of DJs and fans around the U.S. and Canada is the featured single on the new CD. A special Number 11 song (“Cardboard Condo” from their “Out of the Blue” album) was added to the lineup and promises to be a stand-out hit.
Stay tuned to this website for samples of some of the songs from the new album after they’re mastered. We’ll upload some “real time” pictures of the band while in production of the “From the Beginning” CD. Interviews of the band with several DJs in various states are also planned and will be featured on this website and the band’s other sites.MANAGEMENT CONNIE SMALLS~
