Food Bank of NYC & Our Friend, Allison Love

Cool Event Write up in Bay Ridge Journal: http://bayridgejournal.blogspot.com/2011/08/zombiefest-2011.html Food Bank For New York City (http://www.foodbanknyc.org/) recognizes 28 years as the city's major hunger-relief organization working to end food poverty throughout the five boroughs. As the city’s hub for integrated food poverty assistance, the Food Bank tackles the hunger issue on three fronts — food distribution, income support and nutrition education — all strategically guided by its research.

Who knew that Peruvian food could be so delicious? Pio Pio Riku (corner of Huron St & Manhattan Ave)- circumvents what it may lack in 'hipster' flare by delivering enchantment through a hard working staff, sincere management, & delicious + reasonably priced food. The music (by yours truly & an upcoming line up of great artists for the weeks to come) ain't so bad either :) Hope you can make it for this delightful Friday Night Shindig - Begins @ 8pm every Friday (and sometimes Saturday too!)

Gandhi on Wisdom

My stubbornness led me to find my truth, and it led me to demise of several relationships. My ego promoted me to where I feel good about who I am and what I represent, and it also brought everything good that I was to fall completely off the tracks. The combinations led me to me. As I am now. The sometimes ugly & loving truth.

311 their Ass

I don't know if you Greenpoint and W'Burgers feel it- but, the driving by citizens and particularly limo drivers in Greenpoint is way out of control. The stretches of street between the main strips- for instance - Huron st between McGuinness Ave & Manhattan Ave have become places for the limo guys to drag race down with no consideration of human life that may be simply crossing the pedestrian walk way. They do normally stop, but on a dead run and all too close to smashing folks walking through in the walkway zone. The same goes on in Williamsburg on Humboldt st between Grand st and Metropolitan Ave. And I am sure in many, many other blocks in Brooklyn.

People with cars (and reckless limo drivers) in Brooklyn take heed of 311. It is a useful tool to report your ass if you decide to recklessly drive in our neighborhood. In fact, during one such call, the client service rep- suggested next time to take license plate info and call 911! Nice one NYC.gov.

Police: Your authority and support is needed for this sort of work. Not only are meeting month end parking violation quotas important, but also, protecting citizens from the violent use of these perpetrators vehicles. Please use our tax payer $ to help where it matters.

Don't knock the "G" Train

Can it be that the "G" is a secret little engine that sneaks it's participants into the underbelly of Manhattan in a quick and efficient manner unknown to most of even the most savvy metro transistors?

Yes, the ride for the Greenpoint clan, Northern Williamsburgers, and LIC crowd to a downtown Lower East side party, venue, and/or show can be a quick little jaunt via the "G" transfer at J, M, Z Lorimer stop. Once off the "G" at the Broadway stop, it's only a 3 minute walk to the Lorimer J,M,Z and you're on your way to the party!

Wala!

And yes, don't knock the "G"
