What it means to be an Artist II

I was just thinking about how the road to "stardom" or being "famous" (no such thing in God's kingdom--I use these words for argument's sake) is such an interesting one. I learned so much these past three years, and I decided that I want to make sure I share my progress (successes and "tries" (not "failures": that word is no longer part of my vocabulary. I agree with whomever (or is it "whoever?" :) said that you don't really fail, you just discover how NOT to do something!!!

When someone is in the public eye (does not matter whether it's a preacher, artist, millionaire, etc) we tend to think that they are so smart, savvy, AND spiritual, but the truth of the matter is that this person is NEVER any of those things.....not alone. You can never accomplish any task in life that seems daunting or overwhelming without the help of people who truly love you and care about you--who BELIEVE in you. I for one am sooooo grateful that God believes in me, knows what He placed in me, and is making sure that He is surrounding me with those people.

The past three years have been extremely bitter sweet.....bitter because sometimes on the road to self-discovery we lose who we really are if we allow others' expectations and perceptions to be our mirror. When we finally take the time to look in the mirror that truly matters--God's word or what He thinks of us--we begin to blossom and truly find ourselves!!!

That's where I am now. It feels awesome. Had many "tries", but many successes as well. I am looking forward to seeing what God has in store for me and for all of you as we go into 2012, ready to explore the future!!!!

I feel like a cornball as I write this.....but a happy one!!!

You mean a lot to me......

What it means to be an Artist

Just a few questions...

What determines how great an artist is? Is it...

1) A great show 2) An awesome voice 3) The ability to connect with an audience 4) A socially responsible mindset when writing lyrics 5) Awesome marketing 6) All of the above...

Interesting. Just wanted to know, because I find that people love different artists for different reasons. I just refuse to give in to the "status quo". I also, however, do not want to disregard the fact that great music binds people together and often transcends barriers......so an artist must love people enough to want to share something they will like.....What do you think?

Shalom
