Its been a long wait for some but its finally here. Evan the Evolve's debut LP 'The Dirt Merchant' is 5 years in the making and features a select few of Adelaide's finest hip hop producers and mcs. Whether it's the haunting drums and horns of the highly underrated Sublime, or the stellar and trademark beats made by Trials from the Funkoars, this is an album you need to add to your hip hop collection immediately. Talented new upcomer K21 also features on the production as well on the mic with the legendary Mortar of Clandestien, Conseps of Adroit Effusive and Sevva and Realizm of Greenhouse fame.
If you want dark and raw Australian hip hop told how its supposed to be, then this album is full of it. Evolve on the mic is like scorched earth policy tenfold. Its dark, grimey, frightening for the weak and the easily offended. Although sometimes his lyrics might come off as deep and meaningful at times, it is still taboo in its subject matter and you are strongly advised not to play it to the elderly or other geriatrics who have lost their medication.
After a quiet hiatus from the mic that lasted 2 years due to certain life circumstances, Evolve felt like he was almost forgotten in a sense but now he is ready to burst onto the scene with a solid product behind him and the album "The Dirt Merchant" is one not to be missed for all you underground hip hop fans.... Jump on board early, before its too late.
