It's All About "Live"
The Internet in all its digital splendor has allowed Artist to increase the global reach of our music exponentially. We can download, link, share, buy and make connections with our music and our fans all over the world. This new and phenomenal way of marketing has allowed Indie and Established Artist to promote their music and their style to anyone who so desires it. However, the world wide web can not replace the rhapsodic impression that a great live performance leaves on fans. It is irreplaceable! I believe that this is what establishes the real connection with our audience and our fans. Once you connect with your fan base, with a live performance, fans become advocates helping to spread your message of music even more.
As an Artist there is nothing like walking onto to a stage in front of an avid audience, the nervous energy pulsating through your body like a low voltage current agitating the abdominal butterflies. Standing there you feel a little vulnerable. There's no "do overs" like back in the "creative womb" or what most call the recording studio. It's time to introduce the first note, the first word, the first melodic phrase... It's time to bring the fire. You propel your voice upward toward the heavens, letting that note momentarily float as it draws the audience to it. Then without warning the notes cascade downward like a melodious roller coaster and everyone's along for the ride! Your performance inspires exhilaration, exaltation, reflection and a whole lot of other "-tions". When all is said and done, souls have conversed through a profound aural experience. As entertainers this what we should all aspire to do. There is nothing like that "live" connection. For me "It's All About Live".
So as Artist, when we are thinking about marketing our music, I believe our first thought should be to perfect our craft and make sure that we can satisfy the expectations of our fans when they see us relay our music to them in concert. Now that we can reach, whoever we want to reach we must be committed to fulfilling all expectations with a solid performance.........no excuses.
