Panic Switch / Blog

The near future

Greetings. As some of you may know, my studio operation took a tumble which has left me sitting somewhat still. This will delay me a little before I'm able to release "Once Upon A Nightmare". But...I've had plans on upgrading my computer so hopefully within a few months I will have a better working system and will be recording again.

It Came From The Internet

Right off the bat I'm writing for my new album. What's really exciting about this album is the fact that it's going to contain all brand new material...I mean I know it's new to everyone but the songs will actually be new to me to. The songs off Once Upon A Nightmare were songs written over the last several years that never really made it to cd or were just never brought into a band. I'm looking to make a small upgrade to my mac to make the recording process smoother but once that is taken care of and I'm properly rehearsed I will be right back in the lab. As a fun bonus, fun for me anyway, I'm going to do one or two covers from what I feel is last decade of good music, the 90's.

Once Upon A Nightmare finished recording!

I'm happy to announce that I'm finished recording for my new album that will consist of 10 tracks. For the last two songs I brought in my best friends Tom and Barb aka The TaRB. These two helped me bring some much needed life to some old songs, Cemetery Man and Medley of the living Dead and I'm very grateful. This album has been nothing but a joy and learning experience. I'm no trained producer in recording and never really dabbled much in it except with a 4-track recorder when I was a teenager. I pretty much got my macbook and hit the ground running. I've learned a lot and got some great tips and I'm looking forward with great excitement. I'm now in the mastering process and I'm nearing the end. Once I'm finished I will be releasing it through reverb nation for free download.

We Belong Dead

I wrote this song I can actually say years ago. The words have changed over time but this is what the end product is and I'm very happy with it. This song, if you can't tell is my way of paying respects to one of my favorite horror stories of all time, Frankenstein. It's been one of my favorites as a child and continues to be now.

The song is in the perspective of the monster. Kinda my take on being brought back to life only to be a monster, to be hated and feared. I hope you enjoy/

Nightmare City...revisited

I decided to redo this song for Once Upon a Nightmare because this song was written in the same era as the other songs. I put it on the first album mainly because I was really excited to record it. And now that I'm learning so much and doing better with it, it was a no brainer.

Nightmare City is important to me mainly because it's a look into my head. It is also a "zombie" movie from the late 70's...i believe. This song hit many levels for me and its one of my favorite songs to play. I hope you enjoy.

Music, a passion.

My taste in music is pretty wide spread. I look at all and any kind of music as art...some I may not like, but there is respect for it all. The Realm mostly reside is the punk/hardcore area. Most of my life was spent playing in punk bands, going to punk shows etc etc. And I find that it's a form of music that fits my outlet best, metal also.

My albums will probably all differ in some way shape or form but this is art...the people that say people that change their style are sellouts, this is only true if you do so for the purposes of money. For me music is a huge open canvas. Do not ever limit yourself. So with that said don't be surprised if you see that I'm working on a hiphop album. I've always been a fan of groups like Public Enemy, Cypress Hill, etc. Don't be surprised if you see a metal song I've made up...I hope you enjoy what I do.

Once Upon a Nightmare

Greetings! You might have noticed that I have put up some songs for my upcoming album "Once Upon a Nightmare" Im back and forth with this and Engage or Whatever. EoW is in the process of being mastered...Only thing is it's in mono haha! I've already learned so much since i started so that is a reason why I've decided to wrap it up. One day I do plan on re-recording the album but right now i need to move forward.

I'm very excited about this album for many reasons. Most exciting is some dear friends of mine will be appearing on the album. They were part of the reason why these songs on this album exist and the music represents a wonderful time for me. So please stay tuned as I will be posting more music over the next couple of weeks.

Engage

My name is Phill. I'm almost 30 and I've been playing music for a long time. Over the years I've played my share of shows, played in my share of bands and have had my heart broken only to be repaired by the next project. Finally with full focus I've decided what is stopping me from doing what I love to do? So here it is. This is Panic Switch.
