As we first walked into The Otto Bar, we smelled what was clearly the blood sweet and tears of the show the night before. With its seasoned entry way and the weathered carpet of what is the floor, you knew shit had gone down in the small compact area. Then, there were two members from the opening band, later we would know them as "Trace Friend Mucho," and to are right, the stage hand running the power chords for tonights show.
As we ask him where we need to pick up our tickets for our show, (September 26th by the way) he directs us to the stairs to the bar area.
Once again, we are greated by the awesomeness that is the entry way. Once up the stairs, and clear of Nate distracting me in an attempt to fall down the steps, we see the bartender behind what is the most amazing bar in which id ever seen at a venue. By no means is this the greatest bar top, or the nicest any thing. In all honesty, most would describe it as trashy. It still had the allure of a bar that i always dreamed of playing at. "This is it!" I thought to myself as we asked the bartendar where we pick up our tickets (did i mention the playing here September 26th? Its only $10 a ticket!). With the help of a staff member other then the bartendar, we figure out what tickets we needed to pick up and preceeded back towards the same entry way.
As Nate pulled out his wallet to leave one of his business cards (Turner Guitarworx) i begin reading the list of shows for August. This list includes a band named The Swinging Utters. To the common music fan, this name means very little. To a huge fan of Rise Against, this band means the world. One of the bands that has a HUGE influence on my favorite band, hands down, no questions asked, has recently played there.
This fact is more then enough for me to get 30 times more excited for this show. Not only are we playing originals, not only has our band made thier name on the actual ticket, but a band that has influenced on of my major influences has recently blessed their presence on this said stage. Im so stoked to play this show! This will definetly be one of the most exciting moments in my life!
