Today's Alexx's Music Blog will return to telling the story behind the songs on "Escaping the Dungeon."
We're already up to Track 8, "Live to Ride." Live to Ride is a special song to me, because I live and love to ride my beautiful Harley Davidson Dyna Low-Rider.
This song features the great Gabriel Gonzalez on lap-steel slide guitar. Gabe, also the albums recording engineer and co-producer is a great, great musician and did an outstanding job on the slide guitar on this song; I think his playing makes the song so much better.
The lyrics begin by declaring my love of riding and the fact that when I get out on the open road, I love to open up the throttle to feel the power and hear the thunder, as I make the engine roar. It's a great adreneline rush that I can never get enough of.
It then alludes to the fact that I'm anxiously awating my first trip to the big Motorcycle Rally in Daytona Beach Florida. I've yet to attend this rally, but will sometime in the near future. It is one of the most famous, long running rallys in the United States. Maybe this year or next I will take the journey.
The song mentions the rally and all the fun in the sun and the great rock concerts that are part of the rally.
Unfortunately, my bike is down thanks to Ralph Sellers and his now defunct "Armadillo Motorcycles, " in El Paso, Texas. I found out the hard way about their unprofessionalism and shady business practices which led to both the destruction on my bike's engine and also their closure. Live and learn, and let the buyer beware.
Anyway, this song was written for the CD. It is about my love of riding, motorcycle rallies, rock concerts and babes in bikinis. Really, what guy doesn't love these great things?
It goes on to mention that the motorcycles I love are American made highway cruisers; thunder on wheels.
The final verse proclaims loud and clear that we are from Texas, and like it fu*king loud, from our rock music to our Harley Davidson Motorcycles, which are both great American passions, particularly in Texas. We know how to rock and how to roll down here in Texas!
This song can be heard right here on my page, and also purchased here. Just click on the play button to the left of the song to listen.
All proceeds from my music sold on here support both my music and the Fender Music Foundation, which is a great charity supporting the arts, specifically music. So break out your credit card and support my music and this great charity!

ALEXX'S SUNDAY 1/13/12 BLOG
This week is off to an amazing start and it just keeps getting better! Well where do I start? Hmm, well first of all a huge thanks to our friend Glen Garza and to KLAQ 95.5 FM Radio (www.klaq.com,) El Paso, Texas. Our music will once again be featured on KLAQ'S Q-Connected show, which airs tonight (Sunday January 13th,) from 10 pm to midnight, Mountain Standard Time (9pm PST, 11pm CST, and Midnight EST.) They have been very supportive, especially Glen, and we cannot thank them enough. Tune in to hear a bunch of great new music, including some great El Paso rock bands! Secondly, much thanks to TJ Clark, of Museboat Radio, Independent Music Radio. Our song Long Way to the Top will be featured on her show, TJ's Muse Bridge on Museboat Radio, at www.museboat.wix.com. She has featured our music before, and continues with another of my songs, so please log on to check out her show. It will begin today at 2pm PST, 3pm MST, 4pm CST, 5pm EST.) Thirdly, we're up to 500 likes on our Facebook Artist Page, www.facebook.com/alexxofficialmusic. We'll be much happier when it hits 500,000, but 500 is a great start, and I am grateful for that. A sincere thanks to all 500 of you who have liked our page, and I encourage the rest of you to do so. Every like really does make a difference! Rehearsals are going great for my solo act, Alexx, and we've begun working on a Neil Young Tribute Band on the side, called Like a Hurricane. The line-up is set for that act. We will be the opening act for most of the Alexx shows, and also play the casino circuit for fun and money. At this point, we can actually get paid more for the tribute band in most cases, and we all have bills to pay. More importantly, I love Neil's music and it is fun to play his songs. People often compare my music and songs to his, so it kind of makes sense, and the songs come to us easily and sound good. For me, although the solo stuff is higher priority, the more I play, the happier I am, and it just makes me a better, more well rounded musician. These things are the motivation for the tribute.

EXCERPT FROM THE STORY BEHIND "LOSING CONTROL AGAIN"
I've thus far told the story behind the lyrics and the making of the other nine songs on the "Escaping the Dungeon" CD, which brings me to the final song, Track 10, "Losing Control Again." Although I've previously covered a song or two from the album on this, my Reverbnation Blog, most of them are on my Alexx's Daily Music Blog on our Official Website, www.alexxofficialmusic.com. If reading about the song backgrounds, about my musical history, or my perspectives on the current music scene and environment interest you, you probably want to go to that website. I have the rest of the songs described there, as well as the history of my music since writing and recording the Escaping the Dungeon CD, and much more! There are about six months of Daily Entries there, so there is plenty to read, if you enjoy reading about our musical journey, and the work and obstacles involved in the pursuit of my musical dream, which is to earn a good living playing music, and bringing my music to the masses. Losing Control Again also features some beautiful and powerful lap-steel slide guitar playing by Mr. Gabriel Gonzalez. His work does an amazing job of creating the emotions surrounding the story told by the song. I think this song is a must-listen for all! So, on to Losing Control Again. This song is basically about a friend who went through a very dark period in his life, and found an outlet for his feelings through the use of drugs. He quickly finds himself in a downward spiral, caused mainly by the drug itself, but eventually gets tired of the insanity induced by the drug, and his need to acquire more to supply what eventually became his habit. The lyrics start out with the lines "losing control again; that's what you say my friend. Losing control again; will this night ever end? THIS IS JUST AN EXCERPT FROM TODAY'S BLOG ENTRY WHICH YOU CAN GET TO BY CLICKING THIS LINK: www.alexxofficialmusic.com. THIS SITE WOULD NOT ALLOW ME THE REQUIRED SPACE TO POST THE WHOLE STORY. TGIF JAN 4, 2012 (Part B.)
THIS IS A CONTINATION TO TGIF JAN 4, (Part A,) which may be found on my Official Music Blog at www.alexxofficialmusic.com. In part A on our website (which you may want to read first,) I was leading up to a discussion of my song "We Better Open Our Eyes. This song is an important one that can incite thought, action and change. That is it's purpose and my intention when I wrote the song. It is one of my older songs that wound up on Escaping the Dungeon, and has been played countless times live to great crowd response, on virtually every occasion it has been played. Both the original version and the live version are much more agressive and hard rocking than the CD version, but I like the CD version too, although the acoustic guitar is a little more up front than I had intended. None the less, this is still one of my favorite songs that I have ever written, and the lyrics hold up and are probably the most significant and meaningful, of any lyrics I have written. The lyrics remain fresh and current in relation to today's society. Unfortunately, these things haven't changed much. The song is really a must listen, especially to understand and appreciate the lyrics, and can be heard on here in it's entirety here on my page. If you choose to purchase the song on here, half the proceeds will go to the Fender Music Foundation, which is a great charity. This song was chosen by Glen Garza of KLAQ 95.5 FM El Paso Radio off the Escaping the Dungeon CD, to play on their Q-Connected Show. It played for at least 20 consecutive weeks before it was initially taken out of rotation. Unfortunately, I have been too busy to listen to the show the last few weeks, so I'm not really sure if it has been placed back in the rotation or replaced by another song frome the CD. Either way, I am grateful for Glen Garza, Ray Monroe and KLAQ for giving it all the spins and thier kind and supportive comments. So, the song is extremely self explanitory; please give it a listen. THE STORY BEHIND "KICK OUT THE JAMS"
I've been inserting the story and background of the songs on our new CD, "Escaping the Dungeon" into my blog to change it up a bit on occasion. I am up to Track 6, "Kick Out the Jams." "Kick Out the Jams" is one of my newer compostions, written especially for the new album. This song tells the story of a musician (me,) who has been on a mission for years to come back onto the music scene in a big way, and take his music to the next level, while bringing it to the masses. Obviously, it was written just before my recent resurfacing onto the music scene, and hints at my musical past, my musical journey and the obstacles I have overcome, just to get to this point. It also alludes to the fact that I have had doubters and detractors telling me along the way that I was basically wasting my time pursuing a career in music. It tells about lessons learned, dues paid, and hints at things already accomplished musically along the way. It goes on to say that I'm feeling great and confident, and that I'm not wasting any time this time around. That I'm gonna hit the ground and run, "like a motherfu*ker," which is basically what I am currently doing. It also indicates that we are determined to do this starting now, and that we're gonna milk this thing for all it's worth, including enjoying the ride and any benefits that come with the territory. The last verse basically talks about taking the music on the road, and enjoying short encouters with people I meet on the road. That's basically it on "Hit the Ground and Run," and that is what we fully intend to continue to do, "like a mother*ucker!" We hope you like the song; it is a fun one to play, and the line, "like a mother*ucker" has become like a catch or signature phrase for me, and a fan favorite. Don't forget to "Like" this page, "Become a Fan," and listen to and "Like" the songs while you're on here. Thanks as always for visiting, and have a very safe, happy and prosperous Holiday Season and New Year in 2013! ALEXX'S MUSIC BLOG
Good Morning Reverbnation and Alexx fans around the globe! Today's blog is a continuation of my Daily Music Blog on our Official Website, www.alexxofficialmusic.com. I post blog entries there almost daily, on a variety of anecdotes and experiences from my musical journey as we attempt to get to musician's heaven, the land of the major label record deal. Among other things, I have been telling the story of each song on the new cd, song by song. I am up to track 4, Communication Deficit Disorder. This is one of our newest songs, and one of our favorites. The lyrics are both humorous yet serious, if that makes any sense. I wrote it for the new CD, Escaping the Dungeon, during the summer of 2012.. C.D.D. is sort of a fun song about the type of people we all know, but grow to hate. Hate is a bit of a strong word, so dislike may be more appropriate and accurate. What I'm referring to is the people you can never get hold of under normal circumstances. They never answer their phones or messages until they believe hell is freezing over and they decide to check. The last verse of the song describes my reaction to this unprofessional and unsociable practice. You must hear the song to know what I'm talking about. The song is on HERE and you can even DOWNLOAD IT FOR FREE! My gift to you. Merry belated Christmas to you, and I wish you the greatest, most successful year of your life in 2013.
