Easter at Irvinebank!

Hey guys, I just wanted to give a quick shout out to all of you who have become Reverbnation fans (old and new!), your support is a real pick me up! Coming up over Easter I'll be joining my good mates The Hillbillygoats and Astrid Elika at Irvinebank Tavern for a weekend of great tunes and beautiful camping - Saturday night is Rocky Horror theme night and I can't wait to check out some of the wild costumes! Sunday morning we'll be having a cruisy recovery session too so come join us :) There are a few more exciting things happening in the pipeline this year but I don't want to jinx them so hold tight! If you would like to keep up to date please check out my page at http://www.facebook.com/lanibrouwermusic for all the latest :) Thanks again for all your support, love you all 3 Lani

SLAM Day this Saturday + special thanks!

Hey all!

Before I start telling you about my gig this weekend, I just want to say a huge thankyou everyone who became a reverbnation fan these last couple of weeks - such a lovely surprise to hear from people all over the world! Your support is vital for me, as these days its seems to be all about how many 'likes' you have as to what gigs you get to play!

Don't forget you can find me on facebook too: http://www.facebook.com/lanibrouwerhughes, and Twitter, Myspace, Youtube...whichever floats your boat :)

Meanwhile, SLAM Day is this Saturday! Head to the Cooktown Hotel from 2pm & join the Barefoot Belles, Ruff 'n' Ready, The Roadtrippers, Earthbeat, Generator, Greenzone and yours truly to celebrate and support our local FNQ music scene!

So what exactly is SLAM?

In early 2010, the Save Live Australian Music Rally swept through the streets of Melbourne in protest against over-arching Victorian Liquor Licensing policies that unfairly linked live music to high risk activity.

As a result of over 10,000 music lovers (including the likes of Paul Kelly, Missy Higgins, Clare Bowditch and many more) having their say, Live Music is now firmly on the political agenda - with a National call for candidates to have a Live Music policy at all State and Council elections, in NSW, The City of Sydney prepares to launch a Live Music taskforce, in SA, the state Government sent a delegation and met with SLAM representatives and have since announced new small bar laws, a live music hub, a Live Music ‘Thinker in Residence” and an Action Plan for the City of Adelaide Federally and a new Live Music Coordinator has finally been appointed.

Fast forward to 2013 - now, SLAM day gigs are run by hundreds of venues all over the country on the 23rd of February. Remember, even the most successful bands started from humble beginnings - support your local live music scene :)

End of history lesson! 3 Lani
