Two steps back - Ten steps forward

It has been great to have been able to play: Jagz in Ascott The White House in Oxford The Bullingdon Art bar Oxford in the last month and also to have made a live appearance on Marlow FM In the meantime there has been a marked growth in sales of our stuff on iTunes (and other platforms) and even enough income on Spotyfy to keep an ant well fed for a day or two! All very positive. The steps back? We had been scheduled to record our new EP at the beginning of May but this was postponed at the last minute when the wife of our favourite sound engineer went into labour (a girl!!) We are rescheduling for September. Two new songs are in the offing and we are playing: The Cellar bar Oxford 26th June The Home Grown festival 16th August The Hall of Sound 29th August Also we will be releasing our 4th single on the 'Leave Alone' on the 4th of August. And strange though it might seem we are now taking bookings for next year - particularly any little festivals that might be looking for acts. We would love to hear from you.

Tomorrow - Oxford..

Looking forward to a really busy patch starting with our outing tomorrow night at Port Mahon in Oxford. Spent the day working out the set list and generally getting ready (forgetting lyrics and chords - hoping they will be there when I need them.) Then we are at Jagz in Maidenhead on the 22nd and the Hall of Sound in Pangbourne on the 25th - its like being in a real band!!! :-) I have had some really nice contact with a couple of festivals this week too and while I feel we will not get to as many as wanted to this summer - as long as we keep it we will next year. Watch this space! We will be in touch. Be lucky!! BTB

And more progress

We have had a really good time of it of late. Really enjoyed our interview and live session with James Tighe at Croydon Radio on the 11th. Nerve wracking but a great experience. 'To have and to hold' is now released on iTunes and other platforms and we are back in the studio on the 10th of May to finish our latest EP. We seem to be getting some gigs flowing in now too!!. Having confirmed another two shows in Oxford, one in Maidenhead and one in Uxbridge. There are three others in the offing too - more details to follow. Our thanks to all those who have been so supportive and encouraging. We will be in touch soon. BTB

Making progress?

Some news ‘To have and to hold’ will be available online on itunes and other platforms from the 10th March 2014. I hope you have a chance to have a listen and maybe even…….  We are in the studio at the end of March to record ‘Hail the day,’ ‘Wont care’ (roughs and previews are on here) and a sparkly bright new tune called ‘Light on’ which we are really excited about. We have another gig in the diary – down side is it is in January next year!! More details to follow. There will be gigs in between (I hope :-/) we are finalising details for April May now so should be out to play very soon. And we are really looking forward to doing a live radio session on the 11th of March – again more details to follow in the next few days on that one. So plenty going on!!! :-) BTB

One down

So the 25th of January provided our first opportunity to air our songs. It was a blast!! Really great audience - very generous throughout. A great pleasure to watch Blackthorn do their stuff in such a commanding way too. Cant wait for the next one. More to follow - be lucky. BTB

Live at last

Bewarethisboy will be supporting the superb Blackthorn at Port Mahon in Oxford on the 25th January 2014. And we can't wait!!! Spent the weekend writing up the set list and have organised two rehearsals ahead of the show. One is for me - on my own. A chance to get used to trying to remember the lyrics and then another on the 22nd with the rest of the band. Hope to take some rough old film of the show so will post up here in due course. Further updates when more in known. BTB

You've got to laugh...

.... well maybe? I love Glastonbury - so do tens of thousands of other people. So I thought it would be fun to write a song about it and earlier this year we released that song 'Heading West' on iTunes (and other platforms). So serves me right that when tried to get tickets for 2014 - I along with many others - couldn't get one! Oh well maybe in the spring. We are now in rehearsal for live shows at last. Well I say at last I hadn't really ever imagined this project would ever get that far, but I have had such amazing support from Sue Fiddle, Stewart Drums and Dave Bass that we thought it worth a crack. Watch the space maybe. We are in the studio in a couple of weeks to make an 'as live full set' recording - so I can send that out to promoters - and then we will see. I have to say that I am loving this experience. Look I am no spring chicken (as soon to be published photo's will clearly demonstrate) - but having simply worked hard all my life it is time to have some fun! The recording process is being filmed too - we will make that available as soon as we can as well.

You just don't know.....

.....how sales are progressing. We posted 'Heading West' on iTunes and I am now nervously awaiting an idea of sales. It takes two months before you get any feedback? Anyway if we have sold one I will be really happy (expectations managed) I am very excited to say that we will be having a new person joining the band the September. I am excited for so many reasons. Firstly he is a great friend of mine. We lost touch for a while but the upside of social media is you can hook up with folk again. Also he is a very versatile and professional musician. (Actually in the band I am the only one who isn't) He also has a huge amount of experience of working live and has played many of the most famous stages in the UK and the United States. There will be more about Paul after our first set of rehearsals starting at the end of September. Exciting fun times indeed. BTB

Its all go

I have got no idea how long things take - I drive myself nuts!!! I was hoping we might be gigging this year - no chance now. But the great news is we begin to rehearse for live work in September so lets see. The EP is finished and I have been busy sending it out to gig organisers media and publishers. So it will be interesting to see what response we get. (If any of course) We have released 'Heading West' as a single so - this can now be purchased on iTunes and Spotify - go here for iTunes if you like?http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=677338499 Anyway once there have been rehearsals - we will post recording on here. I'll tell you what. It really is great fun. Be lucky BTB

WEST

We have just popped WEST a song about visiting a very well known music and cultural event in the West of England. I am told that the remainder of the songs for the EP will be completed by the end of next week and just cant wait to get them up and running too. Once the mix is finished the CD's will be manufactured and then - well I don't know really. WTS!! Be lucky. BTB
