All Happening

The good thing about not writing in this blog all that often is that there is always something to talk about... The most exciting thing this week is that BBF have secured a support gig for Shihad on the Gold Coast visit of their tour. Everyone is pretty amped to play in front of their crowd, and to meet the Shihad guys. Expect everyone to put on the best show so far. We want this sort of gig to happen regularly... Friday nights gig was great. Got to gig with the guys from Black Neon Shadows again, and also got to meet The Heartbreak Club, who are another band we'd like to see again. Got a reasonable crowd there, although we were disappointed that the invites to the radio stations, press and record shops were not taken up. Cant help but feel surprised at the indifference of so many to see live music. DJ's who spin a couple of CD's of somebody elses music together seem to be more popular, and are leaving those with real talent and dedication to wonder where the crowds have gone. bring it back to the source!!! Brad has gone the razor and now sports a shiny, hair-free head. It all came off during a few drinks at a halloween party. Not sure if the dress-up or the drinks had anything to do with it....

texas hold 'em

Yeah ok, the plan was to write of all the goings on of the band last sunday, but sleeping seemed to be a priority and just getting around to it... Last weeks gig at Brannigans was fun. Great little venue. Small-ish, but that can make it nice and cosy for a great atmosphere. Unfortunately we got pushed back a bit until our set got a bit squeezed and we had to drop 3 songs. As it was we played nearly half an hour past what we were supposed to. Met another great band in Black Neon Shadows, who we are playing with again at the Hard Rock gig. I think they've only been together for a short time, but they were impressive just the same. Look forward to doing it again in Surfers. Saturday night was fun. Scott invited everyone around for a poker night - texas hold 'em. Being seasoned gamblers that we all are...yeah right...the first half hour at the table was taken up with reading the rules then explaining it all to the easily distracted punters who were more intent on picking out their favourite jelly baby form the massive lolly bowl. Eventually 10 of us threw in 10 bucks each in exchange for a collection of various coloured chips that were given a dollar value to make us feel like high rollers. Thank God for the rules as no-one had much of an idea whether a straight beat a flush, or which was the better out of 3-of-a-kind or 2-pairs. By the end of the game, "all in" became the catch phrase and punters were leaving the table penniless to go to the other table where the lolly bowl now was. It had to be around 2 am when the last hand went down and Dan the manager went all in and came away with the hunge in his pocket. Hope those skills can be used in forging all of our music careers, eh? Of course the guitars came out and I'm sure that Scotts neighbours might have had something to say about the volume that didn't die down until people started to leave around 4am. Looking forward to the next one...

Reserved Excitement...

It's a little hard to contain at least some excitement as we now know that our debut album has entereed the shops. Not only can you find it in Sanity or Sunflower Music here in Aus, but its now available on iTunes (US and Aus) and Emusic. Its also in HMV Japan and we even found the CD up on a site in Portugal! So we're trying not to get too excited as we've had a few release dates come and go, and we've been disappointed (to say the least) that it hasn't actually happened. But the record company assures us that the issues have all been sorted. We're hoping that this time is for real and you will be hearing "Radio" on the radio and seeing the clip on TV from about the middle of October. And thats anly about 3 weeks away!! So here's hoping...
