We are Taking Flight

Well friends, last year was probably one of the worst years of my life. BUT, I'm back and I have a new project that I'm crazy excited about. On October 19th, I will launch my latest cabaret act "Taking Flight: Songs of Hope". I created the show as a response to all the injustice that I see around me almost daily... the fight for marriage equality, the persistent whittling away of my reproductive freedom, gun violence, immigration, the list is pretty endless. But even in the midst of all these REALLY BIG problems, there are always glimmers of hope that things will get better. So, that's what I'm exploring in "Taking Flight"...my hopes and dreams for myself, my children, your children, and the world we will in. The show is a national fundraiser for a wonderful organization called Standing on the Side of Love. They are an interfaith advocacy group that seeks to harness the power of love to fight oppression everywhere. Between now and December 2014, my goal is to raise at least 10K for this incredible organization. I really hope you'll join me on this journey. October 19th...mark your calendars. See you soon!

A Dream Come True

I'm so excited for my show tomorrow. Ever since I was a little girl, I've dreamed of being in a band with my older brother. When I was a kid, I spent every day of every summer at Lagoon Amusement Park where my brother was the music director. He had a wonderful band called Country Side that I absolutely adored. I watched every single one of their shows, every day, all summer. At night when I would go home, I would practice singing their songs into my hairbrush and pretend that I was the lead singer. Tomorrow afternoon, I finally get to do it for real. I'm appearing with the original members of Country Side, including my brother. Next to appearing on Broadway, this has been at the top of my "dream list". If you're in the Salt Lake City area, please come see the show. It's gonna be smokin' hot. Seriously. Smokin' HOT!

Crunch-time

Holy moly people. I am 10 days away from the launch of my debut album "Love Songs & Lullabies" and there is a TON of work still to do. It's funny. Three years ago, I had an idea to create a lullaby out of one of my favorite rock songs - Sweet Child O' Mine. A friend suggested I make a whole album of those types of songs and I thought to myself, "That's a great idea! I'll just make an album!" I had no idea how much work it would be, how much money it would cost and how many times I would want to scrap the whole idea and move on. Three years later, I have an album that I'm very proud of and the work is almost complete. It's been a long, difficult road to get here but I did it! So... I hope you'll buy it, if not for yourself, then get it for a friend or maybe your own mom! Mother's Day is coming right up...! :D
