Back from a Version Excursion

Kicked off @ Rakino's on July 19th with special guest DJ Exile for the first of many large evenings. After a few days rest the bro's rolled out in the Base Fm Beast of a people mover armed with a boot of Bass, 6 bottles of Canadian Club, stacks of wax, and an Arme of an MC to The Powderkeg, Ohakune, for the first night out of town. Needless to say, it was Large!

Than off to Wellytown the next day to party with Stickyfingaz, Mighty Asterix, and the Nice Up Crew down at Good Luck on Cuba St. Welly came out in force for the party, super heavy riddims were dropping a plenty with vocals from Asterix and his son, alongside Arme, was seriously a nice vibe. Highlight of the night? perhaps Undercover's Pull up? Three in a row, and Havana was on the cards. In true Havana style and fashion the room was bouncing, with the crew from Ohakune along for the ride, another large night was at hand. Rinsed out but still soldiering on Sandy Bay was up for a radio Active Takeover. It was than across the straight and off to Hanmer Springs for some much needed R&R. By Tuesday the Base beast rolled into Queenstown, shy of three bottles of CC, the bro's quickly made their acquaintance with Qtown. After a very quick visit to Altitude they made themselves at home down at Subculture, warming the evening with the famous Subculture Chilli Tequila. Thursday Night, A Snowboard Video Release party, Speights and Revolver brought yet another nice knee's up from the crew. Arme with two jugs of Speights in hand all evening meant glasses were never empty. After the party Fergburger made its nightly appearance befor nightcaps of Chilli Tequila down at Subculture. With no slowing and just one casualty, Friday brought the big one at Subculture. Sandy Bay Social Club meets Sunshine Soundsystem. After an irie beginning Downtown Brown welcomed the party along with MC Switch and MC Mana, but was that enough to battle MC Arme and the SBSC? Cheers to Subculture for the awesome hospitality and chillie tequila. Late night munchies provided by Fergburger. Rinsed and worn Saturday brought an early start after an hour or so sleep. It was time to cross the Crown Range to Sunny Wanaka to play at The Local. After some confusion in the bar and an All Blacks game, the big finally began. After using the Base Vans mad soundsystem to pull punters from the Kora gig at the Wanaka Community Hall, the party rocked till Wanaka's strict licensing laws shut the party down. After a long three weeks the Parties had come to an end. Dropping the bro's @ the Queenstown airport Arme & Ed-G stayed on for one final night of chilli tequila and Fergburgers befor the long trip up the land. By Van, Car, Bus, Train, Boat and BMX, thru sun, snow, rain, and slighty overcast periods the first official Sandy Bay tour had come to an end. Honestly a huge huge thank you to all that helped make it happen. Arme and Ed gave a thank you roll call from Pokeno to Manukau, so obviously this space can't fit everyone in. Make mention tho to Base FM for the van, a seriously cool van, C.C. for the refreshments, Fergburger, Stauny for showing us round his town, all the venues who let us have parties in their places not knowing who we were, the Subculture crew, and of course Nice up reprazent. cheers, can't wait for round two....
