The band had a great outing at the Montclair-Verona Rotary fundraiser on March 7. There was a good turnout and a very responsive crowd. The new material was well received. The band is looking forward to the next outing at the Grasshopper in Cedar Grove on April 10.

Reflecting on the most recent successful show at the Grasshopper in Cedar Grove on January 16, the packed house definitely was rockin' and smokin' and a good time was had by all.
As usual, due to time constraints, we did not get to play many of the songs we had planned on. One of those songs, the classic "Expressway to Your Heart" was questionable anyway because, although we generally like the arrangement, something was missing and just didn't sound right, but we did not want to drop the song from our repertoire. So many great artists have covered this song in their own unique style and we want keep that tradition by putting a Rockamundo stamp on this tune.
So, at the most recent rehearsal, we talked about it and tried tweaking a few things. A miracle happened - simply speeding up the tempo did the trick and gave this great song the excitement it demands. So come hear it at the next Rockamundo outing and let us know what you think.

Those of us in Rockamundo have rock 'n roll in our blood and love playing classic rock tunes. But we also appreciate the lyrics behind the music and the people who perform and wrote them.
There's a terrific article entitled "Notes to Sooth the Savage Cells" in the Jan. 11 New York Times Week in Review section by a man with prostate cancer who writes about the music that gives him comfort. Included in his list of favorite tunes is one that Rockamundo performs (The Weight), as well as others by Howlin' Wolf, Lucinda Williams, Miles Davis, Alice Cooper and others.
