GREEN EARTH THEATER

My name is Diane Cameron and I reside in Atlanta, Georgia. I recently received a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Science and am currently enrolled in an Environmental Sustainable Masters Program with a concentration in Management and Policy. As the Director of Green Earth Environmental Theater, my goal is to create theatrical productions that address the need for Eco friendly performing art works.

Green Earth Theater can be categorized by many names, ecological theater or Eco-theater, sustainable theater, environmental theater or even recycled theater. Each term can refer to either the practice of producing plays that educate and promote ecology, or it can refer to sustainable and ecological practices that go into the making, of any production. When I began this project, my hope was that the arts and the ecology would forge a partnership to educate and inspire personal responsibility to develop green consciousness.

As anyone who has opted for sustainability in theater can attest—there are a few hurdles. One of the difficulties is that many of the common practices for being ‘green’ still come at a price for the environment. What I would like achieve on this site is how to make theater that is good for the environment--or sustainable theater is educationally entertaining and informative at the same time.

The current collection represents an ongoing series of cultural offerings I hope will be a successful brand of Theater Edutainment. Furthermore, that it will serve to be a resource center for schools, churches, community centers, youth organization and other Eco's friendly organization looking for a creative way to promote green living, a healthier environment and enlightenment theater for this generation of earth minded citizens. Our crew will be active in performing events for Arbor Day, Earth Day or any Keep Cities Beautiful celebration.
