A name for the band

For quite some tome now we've been going by the moniker "Couch Rock" simply because we sat on the couch and wrote these tunes. After quite a bit of debate, the band has settled on a permanent name for the band.

SLOW BURN WINTER

No real meaning but something we all could agree on.

We are slowly getting some mixing started and have been recording some overdubs lately. We have written a brand new song a couple of weeks ago and we'll be playing it at our Feb 26 show at The Zoo. Gina has also wrapped up lyrics to 2 other songs we have had around for the last 2 or 3 years. So 3 new tunes for the live show. We will be on first so be sure to get there early.

Going to the Studio

We are booked to record at Grassroots Sound studio the first wweekend of December. We will be recording 8 songs with Wayne Posnick at the helm.

Gina has also lined up what will be our first show ever at the Royal; Albert in Winnipeg. I'm not to sure of all the details yet. I think it is the second weekend of December.

I've been looking of a multi effects unit for my multitude of tones I'm now using in Garageband. I'm leaning towards the Line 6 XT live.

I guess that's it for now.

Welcome

I've decided to start this profile here on Reverb Nation so people can hear the different music I have been involved with or am currently involved.

Currently I have been putting my energy into the pre-production of what we are tentatively calling "Couch Rock" It started about 3 years ago when I had started writing ideas that were different than the heavy stuff I had played in the past. I race cars with ex Watchmen bass player, Pete Lowen, and we quickly found a common ground with music as well. Since we sat on the couch recording our ideas to Garageband, we thought that Couch Rock was good enough of a name for now. A year later we recruited drummer Corey Biluk from Winnipeg's Paperbacks "http://www.reverbnation.com/thepaperbacks" After hearing some vocals from Corey's side project Safety Penguin, "http://www.myspace.com/safetypenguin" I knew that the girl singing for him should also be singing for us. Her name is Gina Marci. A jewel found in the rough at Larter's G. & C.C.

So now these songs that are over 3 years old are finally close to being recorded properly. We are planning to record at Grassroots Sound in St. Andrews "http://grassrootssound.com/" with Wayne Posnick this fall. The songs that are on this site are only pre-production but is pretty much as it should be.
