Q: Where did you grow up?
A: I'm from The OC... Born and raised in sunny Orange County, California.
Q: What made you realize that music was your path?
A: I don't think that there was a singular epiphany moment for me. I just always kept writing and playing music.
Q: How would you describe the music that you typically create?
A: I'd like to think that it is sincere and real. I'm not one of those artists who write a song every 2 weeks just to be writing. I suppose my approach may not be the best or most productive in regards to the amount of songs that I write but that’s how I work. If something strikes me in life or moves me I will write about it. Sometimes composing a song will take 2 weeks sometimes it will take 2 years.
Q: Who are your biggest musical influences?
A: Elliott Smith and The Beatles first pop in my head. Then I think of vocal stylings of Jeff Buckley and Bob Marley. Sure there are a bunch of cool hip indie and iconic artists I could put down that influence me but I don’t really sound like any of them so it doesn’t really make sense to mention them. That’s not me saying I am this one of a kind thing or that I’m in another stratosphere than all the greats cause that would sound very, very stupid. I mean I salute them in my songs but I don’t think I could honestly say that I sound like so and so. I just try to sound like myself.
Q: What makes your music unique?
A: That’s a good question. I guess I’d have to say my voice and my perspective on things. I guess that’s what makes an artist an artist, how they see and experience things and then create something from that perspective.
Q: Has there been one particular moment in your musical career that you're most proud of?
A: No not really. The fact that music still excites me and that I still wanta write and perform music to me is an accomplishment. I guess if I had won a Grammy or something grandiose like that, that I would put that down but until then I will spare you the BS. I've done some cool stuff with my music but I like to keep focused on the present as well as the future.
Q: What's next for you?
A: I will be releasing a full length this summer 2009 off of Talent & Terms Productions, Inc. a music placement/record label my business partner/attorney Brian Kucsan and I formed. Our slogan is “We help indie artists get heard and exposed by placing their music placed in films, television, and any other media where music is needed. At Talent & Terms, we are dedicated to bringing creative communities together while helping independent artist’s thrive.”
Stay tuned…
