Got My Passport

Hey hope you're staying warm. This winter is ridiculous.

Some pretty cool things happening for us. First there's the touring band: Mike Nellas on keys, Tim Brickner, bass; and Tim Kramp on drums. We're playing a lot and it's getting really tight. And Pax, Tim K and me are still writing some really kickass songs.

So we're touring pretty soon - heading to Canada to open for the Steve Miller Band. We're also headed to Australia for the Bluesfest Byron Bay. It's supposed to be really gorgeous there - if you're in the neighborhood I hope we can meet you. Seems like a REALLY far way. This summer has some exciting plans too but we have to wait to announce.

We're happy to be playing our local favorites too so I hope you can stop by!

Stay toasty my friends, Matthew

PS: Congrats to the original FURY members - Jeff Paxton, Greg Neville, and Erik Nelson: we're finalists in the International Songwriting Competition for "Put One Over"!

PARADIGM!

Mid-July and what a ride! Just got back from playing the Telluride RIDEFESTIVAL. Such a beautiful place and fantastic folks. We stayed in Mountain Village which is another 2K ft higher in a nice cabin. We had three gigs scheduled out there, but it ended up that one of the bands on the RideFestival main stage cancelled so we filled in for them too. What a blast. THANK YOU RIDEFESTIVAL!

Finishing HS is a trip. Now things can really start to happen and they did. MCTF will be booked by Paradigm Talent now, and so we're looking at some bigger venues and stuff like that. Very cool. They seem really interested in getting us in front of a wider audience, and bigger venues. The whole band is really excited, don't know if my mom is that excited. (well, yeah, of course she is, but starting to tour - it's different) Another cool gig is to play for my the HS appreciation party. The Principals have seen the band so I hope they know what they're getting into. lol!

Playing a few favorite gigs this weekend too, one at the Merchant Street Music Festival in Kankakee, and the other here in Bloomington. Hope we can sell lots of CD's too. Always great to see fans we know! And tomorrow we're headed to Goodfellas in Pekin to hang (and hopefully play!) with Bryan Lee and The Blues Power Band. Good friends and mentors, Bryan, and Brent Johnson, whenever they're close by... gotta go. Hope you're having a great week!

BIG Weekend

Finally summer, and we've had a blast so far. A PERFECT weekend for the Chicago Blues Festival - heard some great music, and had tons of fun at the Windy City Blues Society stage playing for an enthusiastic crowd. We sold out of CD's!

Then last weekend we welcomed Ed Anderson on stage with us at the Castle Theatre. Talented guy! Guitar, harp, drums WOW! Sings too, and they're good songs. Anyway, he opened the show for our 2nd CD Release party. The new music from ELECTRIC RELIGION was well received and we had a fantastic crowd! Thanks CASTLE THEATRE in Bloomington!!!! Now we're gearing up to go back to the Ride Festival in Telluride. What a blast! Stay cool friends!

ArtistFirst Radio

Hey! Happy Fall! Had some cool stuff happen this summer and now back in school for my senior year of high school. Hope you also had a great summer. The Fury & I are working on some new songs to record soon, and I look forward to sharing those with you. Tomorrow night (Tuesday) at 9:00 pm central time, Artie Kornfeld will be interviewing me on ArtistFirst. You can listen in on-line! He's the producer of Woodstock (yeah, that one!) and so it should be cool to talk with him - he's interviewed all kinds of great folks. Hope you can check it out, or keep up with the band on the website or Facebook. (Give us a LIKE!) Anyway, take care!

Big Summer Stuff

Hey! Happy Friday 13!

Hope you're having a great summer and catching some great music. Thought I'd send an update of what MCTF has been up to lately. We've had some exciting stuff going on and hope you'll continue to be a part of it.

First we've had some cool gigs lately! We played in Davenport a few weeks ago at the renowned Mississippi Blues Festival. There's a big review in this months Blues Blast Magazine. We played on the main stage right before a HUGE crazy thunderstorm blew through. The horizontal lightening kind!

The Big Fury came with us, horns and back-up singers, and Erik Nelson on keyboard is playing regularly with us now. He's a monster player, and keeps promising to break out his accordian at an upcoming gig. He co-produced "If I Don't Got You" so it's been awesome to get to work with him even more!

Tonight we're in Champaign at Memphis on Main, next Friday in Peoria at the Contemporary Arts Center. All those gigs are on the website and facebook for details. (if you haven't already, please LIKE our fb page!)

At the end of July, we'll be at The Prairie Dog Blues Festival in Prairie du Chien, WI, and then back the next day for the Merchant Street Music Festival in Kankakee. (July 28) Then drummmmmrollll please........... the Ride Festival in Telluride, CO! (Aug 25) Haven't been in the mountains before (actually, even on a plane) so that should be exciting.

This is BIG!!! We've also been honored by being nominated for an unprecedented 3 BLUES BLAST MUSIC AWARDS: Best Blues Song (Blinded By the Darkness) Best Debut CD, and Sean Costello Rising Star Award! Our friends Kilborn Alley is nominated for Best Blues Band too!!! Winners are determined by fan votes, so....here's where you come in!

WE NEED YOUR VOTES! It's one vote per email address, so if you want to "unsubscribe" after that's cool, but this way you can be confident the voting is fair. So there are pull down menus to vote in the categories, then BB will send you a confirmation to make sure it's you, then your vote counts! VOTE HERE ! http://www.thebluesblast.com/bbma/2012/12bbmavote.php

Hope you will vote, and get your friends in on it too! (you can send them to the website, and there's an obvious link there too...) Thanks a lot!!! Hope to see you at some shows too!

"My name is Matthew Curry and I approve this message!" LOL!

Stay cool, Matthew

ISC Finalist!

Hey, I'm pretty excited about this so I had to post! Here's the scoop on the International Songwriting Competition. We'll see what happens - some great songs out there! Finalist in 2 categories: Blues nomination is for "Blinded By the Darkness" and Teen nomination is for "If I Don't Got You". and you can vote for a People's Voice award too. That would be cool. thanks! http://www.songwritingcompetition.com/winners

Jam!

Really had a great time at the Peoria Contemporary Arts Center - we're participating in their membership drive that if you join, you get a "If I Don't Got You" CD. Very cool. Such an awesome venue - we'll be back there July 20. In the meantime, heading to Springfield and the Illinois Central Blues Club 1st Annual JAM at Casey's. Should be awesome playing with MoJo Cats and other blues greats around Lincolnland!

We're looking to play out more in Springfield, Champaign-Urbana, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Chicago, so if we can work something out, email us! karyl@matthewcurry.com

Hope to see you sometime at a gig! Cheers

EAGLES!

Thanks to our great friends at the Clinton and Bloomington Eagles Clubs. We've had a great time playing for you guys! In Bloomington last week there was a real character doing some "interpretive" dance, but hopefully she made it home safe. Guess it takes all kinds to make the world go 'round. Had some cool new shirts and other merch so it was fun. Playing in Peoria on Friday! Thanks, everyone for coming out to our gigs - we love our fans!!!!

Movin ahead!

Hey! I hope everyone's doing great, and had a peaceful holiday. Greg and Matthew just hung out with family in IL, and Jeff went to Denver. So we're back and ready to start the new year with some new songs. Looking for some venues to play in Champaign, Peoria, and Springfield if you have any suggestions! And Chicago, too - of course. So... Happy New Year!

Great times!

So happy about all the fan support happening! thanks so much for coming out to gigs, buying the CD, having fun. Thats the best!
