VOICES OF WOMEN WORLDWIDE (VOWW) THANKS MEMBER CLAUDIA VAU FOR DEVOTING HER SUMMER VACATIONS TO PRODUCING VOWW'S THEME SONG
Our young Portuguese actress, Playback Theatre performer and singer, Claudia Vau spent this summer producing VOWW's theme-songs...
This is VOWW's exclusive interview where Claudia Vau tells her story."I made a career for myself as a communications consultant, after publishing a book on the role of public relations in corporate social accountability, but I had to make a major decision in my life and give it up, so I could unleash my creativity and grow in order to give more, as a performer".
"I joined “Teatro Imediato”, the first Portuguese Playback Theatre group in 2007, and a few years later, I started working as a music teacher in primary schools, determined to move into a completely 'new way of life', where working with young children, stories-telling and art expression became my main focuses".
"Then early summer, I joined as a member of VOWW - Voices of Women Worldwide. During that time, I was taking singing classes with Isabel Campelo at Performative Arts School SOU, in Lisbon".
"Like all new VOWW members, I was encouraged to share pictures and videos of my work, events and achievements. Then one day, I saw this video clip celebrating the 100th Anniversary of International Women's Day and listened to the song "This is Our Time" written by Anne-Louise and put to video to be shared by women around the world. Many VOWW members started suggesting that we had our own theme song. So I wondered, 'Why Not?' And volunteered to compose and sing the VOWW theme song."
"It was not an easy task and time was not on my side. But I felt very challenged to create a theme-song that expressed VOICES OF WOMEN WORLDWIDE network’s mission: to give 'voices' to 'voiceless' women, young girls, children and men from all around the world".
"Without another thought, I accepted the challenge. It inspired me and gave me a purpose to write and sing original songs, so I embraced the idea with a thankful heart. I wrote some lyrics, started to hum and sing them, gathered some of my best musician-friends and fellow singers, and we got the job done... Complete pro-bono!!!".
VOWW’s theme-song “Make Your Voice Sound” was composed by Claudia Vau with Nanu Figueiredo, and recorded along with Nanu, Portuguese guitar player José Paiva, singer and percussionist Virginia Soares and singers Ana Jorge and Madalena Garnier Marques. “Laughing” is dedicated to little girls and it was composed and recorded along with Alvaro M. Rocha.
"By mid-September, I will be moving to London and start working for the School of Playback Theatre, thanks to a 10 month grant I received from an European mobility program, to develop my skills as a Playback Theatre performer and trainer".
All the members of VOICES OF WOMEN WORLDWIDE wish Claudia Vau success in her new career ... and thank all her great friends and teacher Isabel Campelo at Performative Arts School SOU, in Lisbon, for lending Claudia time, talent, care, help, and support to create music, sing and share her songs... giving 'voices' to hundreds and millions of 'voiceless' women, young girls, children and even men... bringing peaceful blessing in the world...
