Osprey Magazine Review

When you read about a band and see the words “energy” and “passion,” you can usually call the cliché police and press charges, but that isn’t always the case. Hemet natives In Silence fall under that category. The quintet, who have been playing together for the better part of a decade, are reminiscent of the better crop of bands from neighboring Orange County. Fresh off a showcase that celebrated the physical release of their album Five to the Eyes, In Silence play a brand of songs that you don’t hear day in and day out. Their songs are bouncy, infectious and don’t come off as insincere. Tunes like “Jawbreaker” and “Murder/Horror” would drag even the most jaded fan into the pit. Not to discredit the other players, but it’s the guitar harmonies that help elevate the band past that level of being a dime a dozen. Their musical influence spans a who’s who of heavy artists, but their sound doesn’t encapsulate the full spectrum of what brought these fellows to the table. In Silence’s heavy groove and fun lyrics – yes, fun – molds into what could best be called the bastard child of Avenged Sevenfold and Damageplan, and I mean that in the best way possible. If you haven’t already, go see these guys live. These tunes have the ‘it’ factor that translates to a fun night on the barricade

Signing Party

Feb 25th 203 heads If u weren't 1 of the 203 people that came out for In Silence's signing party then for shame on you cuz it was a blast. It was 9p and we already surpassed our average....by the time In Silence hit the stage at 11p there was a full house of 200.Drinks were a flowing and good times were had by all and i want to thank In Silence and Dog Faced Gods for pushing this event above and beyond. So here is how it went....right off the bat we had 30 people in the first half hour and it was revving up to be xciting.I had to take off cuz i left my phone at home and when i got back at 9 we already had close to 100 people. Alright so lets get to the review of the bands...starting with D.F.G If u haven't heard about these guys, they are most well known for there single "Its not a waterpipe, its a bong"which got heavy radio play from our local stations. But should a band be defined on a particular hit?No...cuz hits can fly by night and the band can easily be forgotton. Not D.F.G. these guys are a total package band with charisma, personality, talent and a great presence onstage. So we are now brought to the new leaders of the metal scene! What?Well its true....check the evidence...For as long as i have been booking The Vibe and for the times i have brought In Silence out they have always impressed.Say what you will and hell i will be the first to admit that there early days out in the Riverside area they lacked a big draw, but they were getting out there and building it.They did just as well as most other bands in the scene with 20-25 heads.Say what you will about there egos, which was prevelant in the early days. But in the same breath what other bands in the Scene are not full of themselves...there are truly only a handful of bands that I can name that just love to play, that just don't care about clique's and brotherhood bands.Sounds like high school really when u think about it cuz when it all boils down to it,we are all in the same music community and there must be Unity amongst all bands for Metal to truly flourish and grow.In Silence demonstrates just that.....They love to play and they don't care about clique's...its all about the music. The fact that Metal is in the american billboard 200 and playing on Late Night shows with Conan and Jay and Letterman, says there is a market for it.Now I have always believed that the 909/951 has something to offer.....and that something is In Silence In Silence were really laid back last night and having a good time. They had a mass amount of heads there for them and they were chill. They did The Vibe right and they did Sin Sundays right and in turn we are gonna do them right. In Silence deserves to be the leaders in the local Metal scene cuz they brought it with there performance, they brought it with new attitudes and they backed up there words most importantly.200 people last night were jammed in the club at 11p and thay got the crowd moving with there techinical prowess and infectious hooks, thundering basslines and a charismatic frontman that has come into his own.I remember him busting his ass for 10 people now he is putting in the same effort for 200 and it shows that these guys have improved on so many levels and they deserve what they get. In Silence was out last week with flyers and demos pushing there night. I felt to be honest about In Silence cuz i know that some people would want to start some drama cuz i'm praising them so much,so i came out and said it first so there is no mistake and no drama. Leaders in the Metal scene....can i put them in good company like Sangre and Burden of Guilt...I say, after what i saw last night and they can keep that moving consistently, then yes i would them in the top of the mountain with those guys.In Silence is deserving and they can walk as well as then can talk...and there is nothing wrong with that.

Native Honey Review

Tuesday, May 29, 2007 The Whisky A Go Go Current mood: cheerful Category: Music Check it out at http://www.redhoneymag.net/hot3.html by B.Marie If you like heavy metal I urge you to check out In Silence, the hard-rocking heavy metal band. I caught their show at the Whiskey-A-Go-Go and they rocked the cocktail lounge on Hollywood's famous Sunset Boulevard. The small lounge was packed with concert goers and everyone was singing and headbanging to the awesome music. Bill, another show attendee who normally listens to Classic Rock liked how some of the songs started at a slow, softer pace and then quickened to a high energy peak. He also thought the guitar playing was outstanding. One was particularly exceptional (Toby Hatmaker), whose performance was exemplified during the solos two of the guitarists did. The band was formed and is based out of Southern California and two of the members, Toby and Wes Hatmaker are Native guitarists. The music is awesome, check them out and let them know where you heard about them.
