Adjusting and Re-adjusting

Adjusting and re-adjusting ... Hello everyone and it's my pleasure to be on it again. I hope your holidays are beginning with love, joy, expectations and excitement. During this time of year many will be traveling, returning home for some, others will be going to new places they have never been before meeting new friends and family. The one thing we'll all have in common is we'll all be listening to some sort of entertainment medium. Whether it be radio, tv or an assortment of other devices, music will play a big role in our travels and lives at this time. For some it will be an avenue to think others an inspiration of happiness and even others a way through feelings of hurt or unhappiness. Many stats are taken during this most vulnerable time of year. Let's not be one! No matter how you may look at it, music will be doing what it does, meeting a need. During these holidays allow music to be an adjustment in your life. Allow those "on time lyrics" to sooth your soul and "adjust " whatever may be going on in your life. Prepare you for anything that may arise. If your happy, allow it to make your happier. If your sad, allow it to bring you up to a place where love and happiness belongs. I personally believe that music can solve many ills of this world. It can "adjust" an otherwise distorted world view. So during this time, enjoy, love, live and let music light the way. Til next time, Happy Holidays from my family to your.

My Music Is All Over The Place !

Hello everyone! It's great to be writing to you again. With Covet calming down, well it was, now it seems as though it's on the come back.... smh This sickness has permeated every area of life for many and just won't go away. If you can, vaccinate! I did and I'm glad I did. Having pre-existing health issues, vaccination was a must for me. I would have done it anyway. It's great to see everything coming back to life though. Much of this is because of vaccination! The energy, the fresh faces, watching the children playing in the parks, people walking and going places... It's just great to see. As for me, I'm back at it! I've grabbed inspiration from somewhere and sparks of music are firing in my brain again for which I'm grateful. I sat down and began to listen to all the music I had written or I should say all that I could find. It was everywhere! The music I had on my system was fairly easy to find but it was the music on cassettes, disks and thumb drives, that became an adventure to find. Anyway, as I sat and began to listened to the music, I said to myself, " my music is all over the place!" I had songs at both ends of the music spectrum it seemed. The content had, different styles, instrumentation, moods, BPM's. As I listened, I went through many different emotions and memories of the times I had written the each work. On some songs I had full instrumentation with orchestra, and a full array of other instruments. Some I had very limited instrumentation. I guess that's all the song called for during the time I was writing it. On some, the lyrics just took me to another place. It just amazed me as to my instrument choices that I would use in a song. As I began to really think things over I guess it began to make sense to me. It all had to do with inspiration. What was going on in my life at that time that birthed a song? How was I feeling at that moment? What was going on in my life? Was I sad? Happy? Hurt? Angry? Grieving? Just what was going on in my head? Many writers use many things for inspiration and their music may reflect this and take them to many places in their creativity. I'm a person who likes to make a decision and stick to it as best I can. When writing music, that first time everything hits and it feels right, something stirs in my spirit that tells me to leave it alone and get it to the producer. They can read me and I can read them. They pretty much know what I'm trying to achieve from a work. As I listened to each song, I began to feel just like the day I wrote it. Everything came back at that moment. What I was feeling, thinking. The connection was there. Some, time had passed and the feelings were yet there. I even listened to some of the music I haven't released yet. Wow! What an experience. It woke things up in me. Took my mind places I hadn't been in a while. Yes, it did bring some things back I didn't want to feel or think about. It all comes in the bag together. It's like the proverbial can of worms many speak of. Have you ever listen to music, present or past, that has had this affect on you? So now I guess one might wonder, why is he writing about this? One, it's therapeutic. lol Secondly, I never knew I had so many colors of music in me. It blew my mind how close to life music is. How if one were to listen to my music in the order it was written, they could probably tell the story of my life. What was going on in my life at that particular time. They could probably tell the story of my life. I never looked at things this way with music. Have you? Sit down and check out your song lists. What do they say about you? Could I tell your story through your songs? Over time we collect or write music that can be land marks of the different changes and transitions in ours lives. Think about it! Thanks for reading and til next time, Much luv.

New Video Experience are Coming!

Hello everyone!!! It is my pleasure to be writing this installment of Michael Egleton Music to you, the reader. I'm excited to be creating once again. As you see , there are a few videos to songs I had released earlier, coming forth. I'm keeping a promise I made to some of my fans and listeners who were wondering why I hadn't made videos to certain songs I had released to complete the story behind them. To bring more life to the music. I am one who believes no matter how mature a song may grow, it can yet grow even more! Every time I'd play some songs, listen to some of the songs or even prepare to post certain songs, they just didn't feel complete. So I took a chance and went on a venture to complete the story of these songs. I made a decision to start completing the visual story to certain selections that begged for the story to be completed. Even if it didn't have lyrics. There were some selection that were instrumentals but required a picture of what that song was trying to portray. The affect the song could have on an individual listener if they would allow it. Example, 'Situations,"

https://www.reverbnation.com/artist/video/16784049

of which the video will be coming soon, is a description of a night gone terribly wrong after a fight between two people in love. As the song goes on it says, "..... Had a rough night, Had a big fight, Said some things that were not right.... It's a Situation. The night gets worse as a trip to the bar provides opportunities for one to get in an even worse Situation. The end of the song provides a question of who's bed will morning find one in. The music is dramatic, emotional and telling the tale of woe over an elegantly sparse arrangement. “Jumped in my car, went to the bar…” A dim lit bar room creaks as you enter. The gloom is cold welcome. Warmth is a shot glass. Gin’s no tonic for what ails you. ..Thoughts war within – threatening to escape to reality transforming into actions. The eyes of the other interest come into view as you stand making eye contact and you franticly look for her before dropping change on the bar and leaving... Who wouldn't want to make this scene visual? The making of this video was time consuming and very emotional those to involved in it's making. After all we're human too. Things ran across our minds also. When I say emotional, that's exactly what I mean. As ones would view the prints of each trial rendition, to see the motion this video evoked from each person was simply amazing, to say the least... I saw everything from anger, shock to just ambivalence. This made true the fact that this story needed a visual point of mental contact to make it real in ones mind. To know this very thing is happening everyday and could very well happen to them. At least that's how it was imagined in their mind. Some had it actually happened to them in real life, just the way it was portrayed in the video! Situations The Video was shown to a married family member and she became irate and stormed out of the viewing area without a word! This is what's meant when I say, ' Music for the Body..." "Music from the Soul.." Music of the Heart..." Music reaching the inner most being. An association to the realness of life. So as you see this is just one of the songs videos that has been or is being prepared to be release. There has been two other video releases, Stank Wound Up and Pop Rewound which are also emotional moving but in a very different way. One makes you want to drive as some of the listeners expressed and the other causes you to pat a foot or even dance! So get ready, Michael Egleton Music plans to go through your ear hole and massage your mind! Get ready and prepare for what's to come !!!

Inspiration In A COVID Era

Hello everyone and as always it's my pleasure to be writing to you, sharing my thoughts and feelings with you the reader. Well today as I sat down at my desk, I looked around, dibbled and dabbled on my mix board, updated my programs, opened my Studio One program, set things up to start some new material and.... I sat.... and I sat... I hit the keys a couple times on my keyboard, played a few cords and.... sat.... I'm sure your starting to catch the flow of things by now... After looking around the studio, I was stuck! Stuck on stupid! So I decided to write about how I've been feeling. Have this ever happened to you,? If you are a creator, an artist and are reading this, whether your a music artist, painter, author, artist who creates with their hands, any type of person who brings life to a creation, I'm sure you've been down this road before but not during times like this. These times are different. I would have never thought that a year later this is where we would be. You know how the say, "This too shall pass..." Well I thought this would have passed by now!!! Dealing with COVID-19 and all that it brings. I guess Marven Gaye said it all when he penned the song, "What's Going On". "Mercy mercy me,,,,,, Things are not what they used to be,,,," How does this make you feel? Do you feel inadequate? Do you feel as though your lacking in some way? Have you figured out how the music land scape has change? Will it stay this way after COVID? Well with me, these are the emotions I'm feeling and questions I think about. I began to second guess myself. I began to question myself and think, maybe I was done with music and needed to find something else to do. Even though I wake everyday and say to myself, "Let's go and create music today!" I go down to my studio and sit down, after a minute I say to myself, "Who am I fooling? I don't feel creative today!" This has been my experience during this era of COVID. I've been, for the most part, shut up in the house, no visitors. Careful, we don't want to invite COVID into our home! Distracted, with many other worries on my mind. You know, bills, eating! How many of you will be honest and admit this also happens to you? Is artistry really a priority for you right now? Is new material really on your mind during these times? Ok by now you see where I'm coming from. I guess now your waiting on me to gleefully say, " This is what I do to change things!" NOT!!! Sorry! Actually I would like to know, if your reading this, what it is that you do during this time of COVID. Where and what do you draw inspiration from? With loved ones dying, God knows I'm going through this with family and friends, jobs closing, just survival becomes a task, then there's the political scene and the pressures of safety.... Where do you find the capacity to get inspiration? Are, "The answers my friend blowing in the wind"? Or is there a process by which one can use to tap into their creative juices during this time? Actually as many as there are out there actually creating and are solidly tapped into their creative Ora, there are many more asking themselves many of these same questions and are looking for answers. This is why I wrote this blog entry. Oh I know it will be back but it's during this time of it's absence that one can go through mental changes. "Where is my MOJO?????" It's there. You just have to wait on it. It's temperamental. It comes out to play when it wants to. You don't ask it, "Can you come out and play today?" It says to you, if your listening, "come out I'm ready to play", and your job is to be a conduit for it to create! Well it's been therapeutic for me writing to you. I think my juices just came back! You know it's said that acceptance is the beginning of healing. Halellujah!! I think I have been healed !!! Ok ok I'll quit.... Really, look inside of yourself and help someone with your answers and comments to this blog. I'm sure someone is waiting, Talk soon

Music Is Powerful

Hello everyone. It is my sincere hope that all of you are well during this time of uncertainty and sickness. To you whom this virus has touched, you have my prayers and where needed my sincere condolences. I really don't think there is anyone out there who this virus hasn't touched including myself! We are living in challenging times. We who are Spiritual are making comparisons to the last days as written by Paul in Revelation of the New Testament of the Bible. Many others are just in a state of Marvin Gaye's " What's Going On". I am too looking at things this way also. These times are pressurizing when it comes to making ends meet. I know many who have been just been blind sided as a result of this disease and it's effects on the economy. I know many musicians who were once able to actually make a living from the music they made now have had to take employment where they could find it only to have it whisked away by layoffs and furloughs. As I was sitting at my computer having a brain freeze, I began to think. I always say that music surpasses words, feeling and emotions. Now I can say music surpasses all manner of sickness and disease. One thing, through all of this, sickness, disease, joblessness, the music has not stopped. As a matter of fact music has gotten even stronger. New music is coming out even more everyday. During this time I've taken a moment to start my new book which will be coming this year, also reflecting and waiting for my music inspiration to catch fire. That is something I don't rush. I'll wait for as long as it takes. I've seen the devastation of COVID-19 and I don't wish it on anyone. Enough about COVID. Let's look forward. I hope you can take this attitude as you navigate these trying times. Looking forward brings about confidence to know that everything is gonna be alright. I'm enjoying the release of my new autobiography, Slow and Steady Set's the Bass, The Life and Music of Michael Egleton. I've especially enjoyed the kind words and the approval of those who know me and can attest and bare witness to my life throughout this book. I am yet working on the companion music to this book. I keep starting over. lol My thoughts and mind keep changing or evolving where the music is concerned. I've met some great new artists. Some may be guest artists who will be apart of this new project. Will it be my last? We'll see.... I do know I will be doing a Gospel project soon. Keep watching out. I've been asked over and over by many people of the church when will I give one back to God? It's been on my mind to do and I will do one soon. It is my hope that you and your family, those close to you, friends and acquaintances are safe. Til next time... Much Luv

Surviving

Hello everyone. It is my sincere hope that all of you are well during this time of uncertainty and sickness. To you who this virus has touched, you have my prayers and where needed my sincere condolences. I really don't think there are any out there who this virus hasn't touched including myself! We are living in challenging times. We who are Spiritual are making comparisons to the last days as written by Paul in Revelation of the New Testament of the Bible. Many others are just in a state of Marvin Gayes' " Whats Going On". Mentally this has been a debilitating haze. Head aches...... Let's just say I'm planning on purchasing stock in Tylenal once things get right! I guess I've gotten to the point like the song says, "Don't Nobody Bring Me No Bad News"! In this day of COVID19 adjustment is an understatement. Adapting is a bad word. Adapt with what? Adapt to what? I really wonder how others are adapting? What changes were made in their lives. How has this virus affected their lives? How are you adapting? Are you giving up or giving in? Although times are bad and sickness seems to be everywhere, despair seems to be the feeling of the day, now is not the time to quit! Believe it or not this is the time of innovation. When I was young we didn't have much and there were many things we had to invent like baby dolls made with a popsicle stick and corn husk hair! You get what I'm saying. Necessity is the mother of invention. Re-invent yourselves. You can look at the glass half full or half empty. Some have chosen to see the glass half full. I've noticed alot of new industry popping up. Look at the fashion industry and masks! Dr Martin Luther King said in one of his speeches to the masses, "Now Is The Time"! Now is the time to look deep within ourselves and take stock of what is really there. I know it seems like your feeling your way but do just that feel your way until you feel something to grab hold to! Once you grab it, hold on with all your might. Until you gain the confidence to make another grab. We are helpers of one another. At least we are supposed to be... I was always taught when you help someone your are helping yourself. What will necessity help you invent? I plan to write my feeling also on something else that"s on my mind in my next blog. I want to think a little more and choose my words very carefully. I think you can take a good guess as to what the subject matter will be. It's sad how bad the atmosphere has become. If you don't take anything else from my rambling in words, take this, Don't give up. There is an end to all of this. Take this time to do inventory in your life. Spend time with those who matter in your life. Take care of the aged. WHERE A MASK!!! If you haven't had this thing or no one around you has been touched by it you may not have a full appreciation of mother nature and what she has thrown at humanity. She will be respected! Do what it takes to be well and help someone around you stay well. This thing kills. I think I've rambled enough. lol Don't forget to grab your copy of my new autobiography, Slow and Steady Set's the Bass, The Life and Music of Michael Egleton. Go to Amazon, Kindle, Barnes and Nobles and soon coming to Audio Book. I'll do ya better. I'll place the purchase link here to make easier for you. New Biography from Michael Egleton is now Available

Hello everyone and it's my pleasure to be writing to you on this day. When I say, "it's my pleasure", it is my pleasure with all that is going on with the loss of precious life due to the Covid 19 virus. We must reconsider and live everyday as though it was our last. I'm writing to announce that finally, after many delays and missed dead lines, my new autobiography is available! This was a labor of love for me to write. It was also very therapeutic. I settled many things in my mind. I faced up to many things through the writing of this book. I learned things about myself I would have never known if I hadn't written this book. It was a deep look into my own relationship with my wife, being an artist and understanding her side and more about why my 40 year marriage almost ended because of the music. How we persevered and chose not to be a statistic. So as you see there were many areas of my life covered in my book. My co-writer, publisher and I did our best to make it an easy, comfortable read but with being careful as to not watering down the impact and realness of my life. My objective as a writer was as in my music to affect you in way that moves you to a more positive plain. To share something that may incite thought, touch your emotions, change a life in a positive way. Nothing more than that. To make my story also known and recorded among the many. Hopefully something I've said in my book will provide an answer or change of direction that will be a help in you reaching your highest potential and highest level of success. In this book I not only share my life and music but also my thoughts. My thoughts on relationship and artistry and my challenges that arose in my relationship with my love interest as an artist. I talk about parts of my life that were kept to myself until this book. Yes, others will be finding out things about my life along with you the reader. This will be the first in other books that are planned so stay tuned! You can get my new book at Amazon now! It will also be coming to Barnes & Noble's and many other online and brick & mortar stores nationally and world wide. Is It Real or Is It Memorex?

What are your real feelings? Hello everyone and it's my pleasure to be sharing some thoughts with you. This time around, I'll be asking a few questions of you and your thoughts as a listener of music and/or a creator of music. I recently released my second joint from my new independent project, In The Q. This time around I chose to go a different direction when it came to mastering. I chose to use a music mastering platform call LANDR.

https://www.landr.com/en

The song chosen for this new experience was Love Song, from my new independent project, In The Q.

https://www.reverbnation.com/michaelegleton/song/29423067-love-song

During your reading, take listen. It's what this blog edition is all about. I'm a little "ole school" when it come to the technical side of things although I am embracing the newer technology that's available in music today. You must, if you expect to keep relevant and compete with the millions of great songs that are born each day. At first I said to myself, this can't be all of that.... So I said self, try it out. There are other music A.I. platforms that are also out there on the market burning up the music landscape also like one very popular one that really probably started it all and has spread to other areas of life called, Watson. I started checking things out maybe a year and a half ago. It peaked my interest so until I began to to investigate further. This is when I began to see and hear the first projects done through A.I. It was then that I learned Watson would take volumes of music, lyrics and other human song constructions processes, like most popular hits, which lyrics evoked the most deeply felt emotions, and what emotions by effect, you know, happy, sad, love, hate, ect.. Then a complete song would be constructed and all it needed was a human artist to perform it. I'm now understanding that the human artist isn't even needed anymore! Question one: What are your thoughts on this as a listener? As an artist? Is this cheating? The last question is what spurs real passionate debates!!! I know I've had the too!! Do you feel this is fair to the human artist? Should this music be in a category by itself and human made music in a category by itself? I really would like to know what you, the reader of this blog, thoughts are. I believe everything has it's place. After all it would not have been created if it were not useful in some way. I also believe once the human touch has been removed from something it loses it's savoy like salt with out the salt taste. We place seasoning on our foods to make it taste to our liking. Do I think it's cheating? Moving the the bar on creating and using a God giving talent? Well have you ever played chess against a computer? I believe it changing the playing field of artistic expression. Yes, I believe the rules are changing and not in favor of the artist. Picture this, your in a situation, your listening to a song that changes your situation, moves your emotions. Question, was this song written by a human who has experienced what you are going through that can really relate and empathize with what your experiencing or was it a machine who has processed many scenarios and put out the best one for your listening? Back to Love Song, I wrote the lyrics, played the music and arranged the song from my life experiences. What did I use the A.I. LANDR for? To just master the sound of the already written music. Every artistic mind wants offer their best product and will take advantage of every opportunity to do this. My results were fantastic to say the least! The sound quality was by far better than I could ever do. If I were to put my finished product next to their finished product you would hear the difference therefore enhancing the best I have to offer to you. I don't know what the future may hold for A.I. and music, but one can never substitute the human touch for a machine. Tell me your thoughts here at www.michaelegletonmusic.com Much Luv M.E.
