Virtually Speaking

So, we played a livestream and had a ton of fun. It was a neat experience, so going through all of the reps of dialing in a good "live" sound (via everything from laptop speakers to Beats headphones), setting up our stage, creating a camera boom from an old mic stand, decorating, etc... was all kinda worth it. In the end, we played for some folks who had never seen us before and we raised $450.00 for a local homeless shelter.

At the end, we all received a few texts. There were plenty of comments to read on the platform's message board for the show. We felt good. We hugged the girls that helped us put the whole thing on. We chugged a few glasses of water... and then we all showered and went to bed because it was Tuesday night and we all had to be up for work.

Quarantine hasn't been exceptionally hard on us, other than losing live music -- which we love and miss greatly; we really do. We've been lucky enough to keep working. We've received stimulus checks. We've spent a little more time with our families. We've tightened up our set a little bit. We actually practiced for a sweet, acoustic jam that got cancelled at the last minute.

But we really miss playing live. We miss seeing all of you. We miss hearing your voices screaming "Save room for me!!" We miss going to The Pancake Shop at 3 a.m. because we're still amped up from a great set and even the brutal task of hauling all of our gear home and up a flight of stairs still hasn't drained us. We miss bar food. We miss opening bands.

...but for now, we're glad that we live in this day and age. We're glad for virtual yoga and work-from-home technology. We're glad we can Zoom with family and friends. We're glad you can get any food you want, delivered to your house (and liquor, too) with just a couple of taps on a screen.

...and even though it's nothing like the real thing -- we're glad for livestream technology.

We'll see you real soon!!! (Kinda)
