Second Landing!

Still. working. this. out. I have to say, at this point in time ...I absolutely do not consider myself a "blogger". Even though i've got an account, have started posting blogs AND forward my entries to Facebook - I still don't feel like i've earnt the blogger name. (This could also be because of my lack of blogs) Anyway, on to current news: As far as recent happenings go, i've been playing this little gig up at Mona Vale Hotel for the past couple of months. It's not a bottomless pit ..but it's not the state theatre, somewhere comfortably inbetween. And occasionally I end up with maybe 2 or 3 friends popping up to say hello. But mainly since it's unpaid, I use it to put forward new material. Speaking of things that are "unpaid" ...i'm also on the 'Songwriters Live' circut! which is probably my favorite chain of gigs at the moment. They're based all over Sydney ..my local one being The Old Manly Boatshed. Others are The Clovelly Hotel, and the Monkey Bar in Balmain. Both are nice and have a good atmosphere ..but The Boatshed dosen't quite cost so much in regards to petrol. I've had some really nice comments from people at these gigs ..it's mostly "Hey man I was really digging your tunes!" or "I like your writing! and solid guitar work!" - And in all honesty, i'm so very motivated by these comments, I just want to get up and play the whole set again. ! But apparantly i'm having some trouble with "mid song banter" ..meaning I can't catch the ear of each audience member with a witty "So how bout' that aeroplane food huh?" ..or whatever, you get what I mean. So this is what I must work on! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Trio. Trio. Trio. As far as my trio project is going, things are really starting to take shape. I can think back to the first couple of rehearsals we had, and can see us just sitting there with me saying "So this is the sound i'm trying to achieve ..". I fianally think the sound is starting to form. I made a couple of video's and uploaded them to Facebook last week, seemed to get a pretty good response. Even though the quality wasn't that of Spielberg. Though the songs are flowing, Timmy just bought a double bass and Aaron is nailing his parts. So I expect things to move forward very comfortably within the coming months. :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In. Closing. This shall mark the "Second Landing" of my blogging career, which I hope to keep continuing. ! And honestly, i'm starting to feel a slight tinge of satisfaction while writing these things ....does that mean I have earnt the label of "Blogger" ?!? Who knows. Anyway! Hope everyone is well. ! I'll see you all again shortly - bye for now. :) x

From now until then.

So it turns out by unwritten law, i'm forced to recount all the happenings in my musical life by means of text. Why is this? ..because it DOES have some pro's to it. For one, I can attempt to describe the joy and cheers of doing what I do. But even with a decent effort, I would still manage to fall short. How that can be considered a "pro" i'm not quite sure, then again i'm not reffering to my job as a stock broker am I. ? Such times to be had in a career field like that! Anyway more to the point ...as a lot of you might have seen i've been putting together a few tunes. Some of these tunes have been through 3 or 4 different versions, after playing it one way and thinking "If I heard that on the radio ..I would not feel I had to go home and Youtube the few words I can remember from the chorus" Even still! I can't guarantee an effect like that on anyone. (as much as i'd like to) Myself and two other mates have been working pretty hard on putting these tunes together. It seems to be the priority at the moment, even though i'm not employed ..and quickly running out of money. But this group just seems to work, 1 bass (double bass soon hopefully) and 1 other guitar. Everyone singing, it's a gorgeous sound. :) Alas! 1 more rehearsal and i'll probably take the HD video camera along, just to prove everything that i'm claiming here. But from now until then, you'll just have to take my word for it. ! Much love, Matt.
