I have been meaning to put up a new song for a while. I have not liked the sound of anything I have recorded recently, but I have been working on banjo and wrote a song for it. In spite of the roughness of the singing and the overall quality of the song, I am fond of it, so I decided to throw it up there to share. I write at least one song a month thanks to a song-writer group to which I belong, but I don't usually record them and often am not overly excited with the songs. I do have one I am pretty pleased with, but I have not been able to record it in a manner that I feel does the song justice. Maybe soon. Anyway, I'd appreciate it if you'd give the new song a listen and let me know what you think.
Hope things are going great for all of you . I visit and listen when I can.

and re-record some of my stuff. I am planning to get a Tascam usb audio interface for my PC and use Audacity to mix. I am hoping that this interface will be easier for me to get the kind of sound out of than I am able to do with my big 8-track recorder. It is such a cumbersome interface and also seems like a steep learning curve for me.
Who knows - I have a lot more songs that I would like to record. I hope to be able to get some of it done soon.

I have a Tascam digital 8-track recorder. I thought I might be able to make my stuff sound a little better or more polished using it. I have found that it doesn't really doing anything positive. My guitar sounds worse through it than it does in the room. My voice - eh - it is what it is and the machine doesn't seem to do anything for or negative to it.
Wondering what you all use to do your recording if you do it yourself...

I just got a plug-in Soundblaster X-fi. It goes in the USB port and makes up for the lousy soundcard in my laptop. It also makes the "What-U-hear" option possible in Audacity and other programs, which has been deliberately crippled in Windows Vista and 7. But whatever you've been doing, the recording quality is like being right there.

Maybe I just need to get someone to teach me how to do the mixing on it. I don't know...
