One word...WHAT?!
I loved the first half. A hint of style and a beautiful voice. Then came the new verse and an annoying "buy one note get 15 free" special in the back half (so unnecessary). I don't think there's any question about Aguilera's insane about of vocal talent or the kind of nerves it takes to perform that song acapella especially at such a widespread anticipated event. The Star Spangled Banner is a masterpiece already. A masterpiece! Just sing the damn thing. No one is going to make it better. Where's Whitney when you need her? Call it what it was and move on to the next performance. That's just KIND OF an important song at KIND OF a magnified national event during KIND OF a tumultuous worldwide time period, militarily speaking. They hired her because she's supposed to be a pro. She knows what she's doing, and she knows how she did.
FAIL on the National Anthem.
On a lighter note...HOW BADASS WERE THOSE JETS FLYING OVERHEAD AFTER?!?! Gives me the chills everytime!
