I posted a great blog here about 5 days ago and it simply hasn't appeared. Frustrating as I'll never recapture the 'magic'. I'll have a good go, but please believe me, you should have seen the other one....awesome! ;-)
Well, we've played a few shows now since our hibernation and the general feedback on the new tunes is really positive. This means we're moving in the right direction and we'll probably be drip feeding new songs into the set over the coming months.
Recording wise, it's going a lot slower than we like as, like anything in this world, it costs money and none of us have very much. We're finding ways and means but it's taking a frustrating amount of time. On the plus side, if you're patient, I'm sure you'll be rewarded with our best sounding stuff to date. It's basically drums that are the problem, most other things can be recorded at home, but drums have to be recorded in a studio. Without a great drum sound there's just not much point.
In the meantime, you'll notice that we've got shows....a few festivals, a gig in Walsall (??) and a few Sheffield/Mids shows. This'll pretty much be the policy from now on...we're keeping it fairly local - Mansfield, Sheffield, Nottingham and Leicester. The reason? Cash. Playing shows invariably costs us money and we simply can't continue to make a loss in this day and age. We're all skint.
We're going to be following the lead of our friends Sucioperro though and we'll be getting an online store soon where you can buy music downloads and T shirts. If we get to a stage where there's no deal in place to support our album then we'll release it online with a bunch of extras at 'a fair price'. We haven't quite got our heads round what 'a fair price' is but my personal thinking is about a fiver for an album and about 7 squids for a T shirt. All money will be reinvested back into more T shirts, more recording and potentially a few more dates.
This is not to say that we're ONLY doing local shows from now on....if the tour offer comes and it makes good commercial sense (or we fancy a bit of a jolly) then we'll no doubt be there. I've no doubt we'll be in Newcastle or Brighton soon to play with our friends but, to be honest, it's more of a night out than a gig for us anyway.
Please don't misinterpret this as a negative blog - it really really isn't - we're all in a great place and writing what we (and you?) believe is our best music ever....we're still very much in love with each other and the music we play. We're just facing up to the realities of being in a band and letting you know where we're at.
Please please please check out the following bands that we know and love: Sucioperro, Lovemat, Your Army, Dragnet, Maybeshewill, Dobermann, Black Spiders, Future of the Left, Bassknives
Thankyou, that will be all.

Boys Done Good
Yep, in our continued effort to prove that we actually do exist, we've uploaded another demo. This time of Boy Done Good, which has been in our live set for quite some time. We hope you likey....it was recorded at confetti studios in Nottingham in the same session that produced the latest version of Got A New Drug. The whole session took 6 hours. Mahoosive thanks to the sublimely talented Adam and Patrick, who IMHO will go far in life. Darren ...and Tristan and Gavgav. But mainly Darren.

This is the end, my friend
So that was it. Last night we played what is likely to be the last night of live music at the Town Mill in Mansfield. Why should YOU care? You should care for the same reasons that we do. This is indicative of the live music scene across the country. There are venues going belly up everywhere. The Town Mill put what is essentially a town in the suburbs of a city on the map, gave the people in this town who want an alternative to the mainstream a place they can call home and brought national and international bands to the town. Most importantly, the people that ran the place - Kev, Dawn and Ricky - we a family who had a passion for music and LOCAL music. They had a place in their hearts for the local music scene and their first question wasn't "How many people can you bring?". They were genuine, heartfelt and nice people. I spent yesterday going through an number of things I could say to sum up my feelings, searching for something poignant to say. The best I could come up with was. "thanks for supporting us here over the past few years, we have been Kill Chaos and YOU HAVE BEEN THE TOWN MILL". Poor, I know. It was a great send off and fantastic (and slightly disheartening and the same time) to see so many people there. There is an audience for alternative live music in Mansfield. Is there hope for it to stay open? Somehow I don't think so. At best it'll be a stay of execution. This should be publicly funded in the same way theatres and galleries do. Music gets a raw deal unless it's opera or classical....or the f**king Beatles. I genuinely believe that a little piece of everyone's soul died last night. One of the bright lights has been snuffed out. Not just in Mansfield, not just in the Midlands but across this country. Love your local venues, support them. You don't know how good you've got it til they're gone. Thankyou and goodnight. Darren

Quiet Times
Yes, I know we've been quiet of late so I thought I'd give a quick update to what's been happening. I'm now a dad for the second time, meaning I have even less sleep than normal. Megan was born on 25th July and is, just like her sister and mum, beautiful. ^^^That has taken up a lot of our rehearsal time of late but we're now getting bust for the forthcoming dates around the country over the coming months. New songs will be played, new guitars will be played. Woop woop. On the subject of Gav: he's still hairy On the subject of Tristan: he's still weird. That will be all. Darren
