Press Bio

If one were to compile a list of cities whose cups are running over with bands out to take over the world, one set of ears at a time, Hagerstown, MD would not make that list. However, there is one band shining like a beacon in the dark with the hopes to put that small town on the map for years to come. Matinee @ Midnight is a Pop Punk band with just the right amount of Top 40 rock to make some serious noise in the future. Lead singer and guitarist Dustin Perrott started the band back in 2007 with a friend in high school just looking to have some fun and hopefully make some good music along the way. Time passed, lineups changed many times over, and Perrott had all but given up on this endeavor. Luckily, all things can change at a moment's notice. A local band who had played alongside Matinee a few times had just let go of their drummer and jack of all trades musician. The band called him up, and that was the moment when current drummer Roger Pleasant joined the band...as a guitar player. Months passed until it came to be that the drummer at the time packed up and moved to Cleveland withouth any notification. With this unexpected development, the guys put out an open audition to anyone who played any instrument in an attempt to save the band that always seemed to take one step forward, then two steps back. One man answered that call. Justin Harris auditioned and joined the band on lead guitar, while Roger made the shift to drums in September of 2009. With this new look, and entirely new feel, Matinee @ Midnight was born. The band searched and played shows as often as possible, whenever possible, and in April of 2010 took the next leap forward. The band traveled to Lancaster, Pennsylvania to record their debut EP with up and coming producer Kory Gable, who interned with highly acclaimed producer Paul Leavitt (All Time Low, Senses Fail, Circa Survive) and has engineered bands such as Senses Fail for their track on Guitar Hero, and Mercy Mercedes. Working around not having a complete lineup, the band percivered, continuing to look for the remaining pieces to the puzzle, even while in the studio. After recording, the band returned home and searched tirelessly for the missing links in the bands chain, while still setting up shows and promoting the EP. Braden Myers reached out to the band about playing bass, and after one practice the chemistry was so undeniable that the band jumped at the opportunity to add him. Braden introduced them to a friend and coworker whom not only loved their music, but was a musician himself. Zack Uchima was asked to come audition on synth, and it was during that practice the band realized that this was it. This was the lineup that would stick. It was this collective group of artists that would push their way to the top. Now sounding tighter, fuller and reawakened with a newlyfound, impenetrable dedication, Matinee @ Midnight is moving forward with no plans of looking back. With an EP release party planned in the winter of 2010 and the single, "It Starts Tonight" reaching Number One on indie radio station Revolver Underground in Nashville, TN for 4 consecutive weeks, these guys are doing everything in their power to push ahead of all the rest. You can contact the band through their email account at matineeatmidnight@gmail.com or find them on myspace at www.myspace.com/matineeatmidnight.

Band Update

Hey guys! Just wanted to take some time to fill you in on the last couple months for us! We are in the process of finalizing the mixes for our EP and prepping them for mastering. Paul Leavitt (All Time Low, Senses Fail, Circa Survive) will be mastering the EP. After that, we will be getting the album pressed and THEN, it will be ready to sell. We just had some photos done a month ago through Anderson Photographs in Hagerstown, MD. We will have to be getting more piictures done now because we have a new addition to the band. Braden Myers, who has played in numerous local acts throughout the area, will be playing bass as well as some keyboard for the band. We are also coming down to the wire in Ernie Ball's Battle Of The Bands. We are still competing for a spot on the Vans Warped Tour at Virginia Beach on July 21st. So if you follow the link below, and register a fan account, you can vote for us daily until our spot has been judged. So please vote for us, and if we get to play, come support us at VA Beach and you can celebrate Dustin's 21st birthday with the band too!

Much Love,

M@M

Studio Day 8

It's our last day in the studio. We record the keyboard at the beginning of "Face It, You're A Natural Disaster" then get hard to work on recording harmonies. It didn't take long at all and before we even knew what happened, the record was completely tracked. So we started cleaning and packing up. We are actually still in the process of doing so. In a week or so, Kory will be sending us a track or two from the EP, so be on the lookout for that! This has been an awesome experience and I hope you guys enjoyed the daily studio blog. Much love!

Studio Day 7

After an awesome day of rest, we got back to work Monday. Kory got here around 11 and we got started around 11:30. The first thing we did was record the acoustic guitar in "Face It, You're A Natural Disaster" and an all new acoustic song called, "Speechless" Then we added some synth stuff to "Speechless" Then it was time to knock out some vocals. Dustin sang until he couldn't really sing anymore, but got all the lead vocals done, leaving the final day of recording with just a piano intro for a song and harmonies.
