“and it came to pass.” What’s your favorite Bible verse?" The story is told of a Sunday class that had been asked the question, "In your time of discouragement, what is your favorite Scripture?" A young man said, "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want Psalm 23:1." A middle age woman said, "God is my refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1." Another woman said, "In this world you shall have tribulations, but be of good cheer, I have overcome this world. John 16:33-35." Then old Mr. John, who was 80 years old, with head of white haired black man, stood up and said with as much strength as he could muster, "and it came to pass 85 times in the Bible." The class started to laugh a little thinking that old Mr. John's lack of memory was getting the best of him. When the snickering stopped, he said. "At 30 I lost my job with six hungry mouths and a wife to feed. I didn't know how I would make it. At 40 my eldest son was killed overseas in the war. It knocked me down. At 50 my house burned to the ground. Nothing was saved out of the house. At 60 my wife of 40 years got cancer. It slowly ate away at her. We cried together many a night on our knees in prayer. At 65 she died. I still miss her today. The agony I went through in each of these situations was unbelievable. I wondered where God was. But each time I looked in the Bible I saw one of those 85 verses that said, 'and it came to pass.' I felt that God was telling me, my pain and my circumstances were also going to pass and that God would get me through it." Let me ask you this. Are we also in a worst situation in life and we're feeling helpless? The good news is, if we will fill our mind and heart with God's Word, we'll always be reminded that we have a God that will rescue us. No matter how big our problem is. Let’s take a moment right now and choose a "Bible verse" that we can meditate whenever we're in a time of discouragement. We’ll be surprised how this one or two Bible verse can give us peace, joy, and assurance of victory. Be still and know that I'm God.

We are reminded how Cheap Grace mindset can ruin our lives and drive us away from God. Watch our thoughts; it becomes words. Watch our words; it becomes actions.
Watch our actions; it becomes habits. Watch our habits; it becomes character. Watch our character; it becomes our destiny. What starts out as a simple thought may ultimately determine our destiny, even our eternal destiny. The above statement match the words of Solomon found in Proverbs 23:7: "As a man thinks in his heart, so is he." Our thoughts reflect the person we really are. If we have thoughts which are hateful, it will manifest it selves as words--actions--habits. If, however, we fill our hearts with positive things, can anything but good actions result? Paul summed it up rightly when he wrote in Philippians 4:8, (NIV)"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things." Think about "these things." If we occupy our time on thoughts concerning "these things," it cannot help but result in an eternal destiny with God the Father. We are what we think. For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. In addition, don't give up on thinking about God's promises to us. Regularly meditate and reading our bible verse as it builds our faith every time we do it. And if we need help take it to God in prayer our problem is not that we cannot read God’s word but it’s just "laziness." The fact is, the remedy for laziness is taking action and keep moving. When we read scriptures, we need to keep doing it and never stop. Momentum is power. So keep our momentum going.

If we have enemies, the safest course is to keep on intimate terms with God through His Son Jesus Christ who is typified in the daily Lamb and whose righteousness must be our confidence in all our supplications. Imagine a sponge that has been used to wash the dishes. It's all full of dirt and food and old water. It needs to be filled with clean water! But how can we do that? Easy! We wring it out, rinse it off, and wring it out again. Only when we have done this can we fill it with clean water. It's the same with the Spirit. Here we are, all full of sin and grime and filth. There is no room for Him. But once all the filth has been removed, and we have been emptied, the Spirit can come and fill us. Empty ourselves to God and allow the Holy Spirit to move in our life. In our daily schedule, give room to God by starting our day with a scripture and meditation. In Fact, only we can choose how intimate our relationship with God is. And if we think scripture read is tough, let me lead you to a better and more enjoyable way to reading Bible verses. Intrigued? Of course not! Every day we need to make a choice either we let our circumstances to lead our life or we let God to direct us. It's completely up to us. But through reading and meditating on God's Word, we’re submitting to God and asking Him to direct us. That's how powerful reading and meditating on scripture is. So start reading God's Word today! For one who goes astray is an abomination to the LORD,
But he reveals his intimate counsel to the upright. The LORD’s curse is on the household of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the righteous. Proverbs 3:32-33

Raccoons go through a glandular change at about 24 months. After that they often attack their owners. Since a 30-pound raccoon can be equal to a 100-pound dog in a scrap. The danger was mentioned to a lady that became a new raccoon pet owner. She listened politely as It was explained the coming danger. She replied, "It will be different for me." And she smiled as she said,”
Bandit wouldn't hurt me. He just wouldn't." Three months later the lady underwent plastic surgery for facial lacerations sustained when her adult raccoon attacked her for no apparent reason. Bandit was released into the wild. Sin, too, often comes dressed in an adorable guise, and as we play with it, how easy it is to say, "It will be different for me." The results are predictable. Truth is, there's no such thing as "Sin Proof" Christian. Given the right opportunity and situation we can all fall into temptation and sin. That's why it's critical for us to regularly read God’s word. You see, whenever we meditate and read verse we are declaring a war against sin. We’re keeping ourselves alert of devil's schemes and temptations. In short, we 're being a Pro Active Christian than a Reactive Christian. We don't just sit there and defend ourselves but also retaliate to the enemy through our reading God’s word. Experience the power of God’s word. Blessed is anyone who endures temptation. Such a one has stood the test and will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. No one, when tempted, should say, “I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil and he himself tempts no one. But one is tempted by one’s own desire, being lured and enticed by it; then, when that desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and that sin, when it is fully grown, gives birth to death. Do not be deceived, my beloved. James 1:12-16

The problem? We didn't know we are multimillionaires. Many Christians live in spiritual poverty. Simply because they don't take the time to read and meditate on God word. We are entitled to the gifts of the Holy Spirit and his energizing power, but they are not aware of their birthright.
Today is the day that you break spiritual poverty though the word of God. With just one verse at a time begin to read and meditate on scriptures throughout the day.
If you've tried to read before and failed, there's no harm in trying it again. Tons of Christians are now enjoying God’s word. Spiritual growth doesn't happen with inaction. Have faith and take action.
