Little Fire aka Jamie McGeechan is a 28 year old singer songwriter from Ayrshire who started out playing in a band at school at 14 , fast forward another 14 years and he has shared stages with Damien Rice, Joan Armatrading, Andrew Roachford, The Secret Sisters, Eddi Reader, Hue and Cry, Roddy Woomble, Dougie MacLean, Capercaillie, King Creosote, Kassidy, Admiral Fallow even JLS on a windy day in the Scottish Highlands. A prolific live performer, on the stage is where he feels most at home.
A passionate singer songwriter his talents have earned him performances at festivals such as Celtic Connections, the BlueBalls Festival in Switzerland, Belladrum, RockNess, Burns and A’That, alongside performances at venues such as The Bedford in London, King Tuts in Glasgow and the Voodoo Rooms in Edinburgh.
His penchant for music and writing came at a young age with some of his poems published in Scottish poetry collections, winning poetry competitions on BBC Radio 1 and being set on the musical path after winning a battle of the bands competition as a solo performer, probably not something that happens too often.
Little Fire : ” I was actually pretty close to joining the Navy had I not won that battle of the bands, I guess it was the little bit of confidence boosting that I needed at the time to encourage me to follow the path and I’m really glad for choosing the music.”
Having shared stages with many of his musical heroes Little Fire is now making a name for himself in his own right as an in demand music talent, his songwriting takes in influences from some of the most passionate songwriters including John Martyn, Ray LaMontagne and Joan Armatrading. With a hugely expressive voice he gives himself to his live performance, you can tell this is a guy who really means what he’s singing about.
Little Fire picked up the gong for the Best Acoustic award at the 2013 Scottish Alternative Music Awards.
