“It’s Hot! is the next single from DJ Love’s debut album ‘Waiting For A Revolution’ recently released on Ali B’s Air Recordings label. It features fellow Dallas based MC Leon The Pro who shows why he’s at the top of his game effortlessly delivering over DJ Love’s up-tempo funk beats. Remixes come courtesy of an all-star line up including JPOD, Mooqee and Ursula 1000 who between them help make this record another sure fire hit for DJ Love…”

“He also contends that “yelling ‘swag’ isn’t the only key to having a short career.” It’s interesting that Leon wants to take on such a widely-used word in hip hop. Though I don’t necessarily have a problem with this expression, it’s commendable that he is so willing to buck a trend. Actually, I do have a problem when music journalists say it, I admit.
So, he’s not exactly shy about his talent, but the hyperbole seems to serve the idea that he is a particularly unique entity in Dallas hip hop, as opposed to the flat-out best rapper in town, which is a pretty safe claim to make. I don’t hear an obvious East Coast sound in most of the Dallas hip hop I ever hear, especially now days. As for my original thought regarding his style, I felt pretty validated after reading a little explanation for the mix-tape’s title on Leon’s website.”

“It seems that in the internet age, hundreds of new hip-hop mix tapes get released a day. While it’s safe to say 99% of these are forgettable, undoubtedly a few push their way through and become some of the biggest hits of the year. Need proof? Check out Danny Brown’s free release from 2011, XXX.
Could Leon “The Professional” be the next one to crack that barrier? It’s tough to predict, but there’s no doubt that lyrically, the man has it. Check out “Hit ‘Em In the Head” below, and keep an eye out for the release of the full length coming out later this year.”

“Let's cut right to the chase: Despite proclaiming himself to be "a legend in the scene" within the first two minutes of his debut release, Leon The Professional is still an amateur, a largely unknown entity in the booming Dallas hip-hop scene.
But that doesn't mean there isn't a bounty of promise to be found on his new mixtape, (B)EAST, which finds a man heretofore known mostly as a breakdancer trying his hand out as an emcee. And it doesn't mean the clear Jean Reno fan 's boastfulness isn't merited.
That's mostly thanks to the fact that, throughout (B)EAST, Leon's lyrical delivery flashes more confidence than any newcomer to the game has much right to put on display -- something immediately obviously on the mixtape's second track (and first real cut after a quick, obviously Wu-Tang-influenced intro featuring audio snippets from televised B-movies), "Hit 'Em In The Head," which lifts its infectious beat straight from Pac Div's self-titled song from a few years back.”
