Biography:

Carol Alban (flute, vocals, piano, guitar) is an active performer, composer and teacher based in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is the principal flutist with the Bay Area Chamber Symphony and plays in several small groups. Carol is also an experienced studio musician. Her flute playing can be heard on pianist Brian Kelly's latest CD "Afterplay" which received rave reviews and reached # 3 on the New Age Charts at New Age Reporter. Her playing can also be heard on Inza Bamba's "House of Bamba" which includes the amazing playing of bansuri master Ravichandra Kulur who tours with Ravi Shankar and Anoushka Shankar. Carol has recorded with many other artists including Chilean guitarist/vocalist Rafael Manriquez on his highly- acclaimed "Amistades" album with Quique Cruz. She has appeared at various Jazz and Folk Music Festivals and was a featured performer at the 2008 World Flute Fest Concert at Carnegie Hall in New York. She has performed at other notable venues including Yoshi's Jazz Club, Freight & Salvage, the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood, CBGBs, the Blue Note Jazz Club, Tavern on the Green, and at the 2009 Bach and Beyond Concert at New York's Lincoln Center. Carol recently performed with the California Guitar Trio at the historic State Theater in Red Bluff, California.
