Press:

“It was the MC from the last set of the night – a member of the Sweet AZ Soundsystem, Rayjah 45 who had heads turning and booties shaking. He definitely caught my attention for his musical talent, and caught some of the other lady’s eyes for other more aesthetic reasons. The talent this one man has for using his voice and a microphone is something to appreciate and envy. Boy’s got talent.”

“‘Maranga’ lifts the beat of the album again, a great track with intense Maori rapping that sync over the dub beat.”

“The first track ‘Deliverance’ enters straight into a haunting and yet compelling Maori Karakia.”

“‘Tis a dubbin rubbadubber for this fine day in Cali. We have been having the best spring rains this year, the land is ever so green, and if I hear anyone utter the word “drought” I will hit them with a water balloon. The Versionaries with DJ Kina and Rayja45 bust a tight riddim that borrows as much from roots reggae and early Jamaican dancehall as it does from urban American hip-hop. All with positive lyrics and generous helpings of dub. ”

“Totally agree about the Nomad (the MC was Rayjah45 not Charmed1), he was also half of the brilliant Sweet Az Sound System in the Dubshack. Another highlight for me were the Versionaries... Lamb were indeed ordinary and boring. And yes, toilets=YUK - would have been ok if they had been emptied occasionally, and that ridiculous beer can redemption ticket grrrrrrr Ah, apologies on the Rayjah45/Charmed 1 confusion. I caught a bit of the Sweet Az Soundsystem and have to agree, they were excellent! I think the Versionaries clashed with something, so I missed them this time, but yeah, I've seen them a number of times before and loved them. ”
