Biography:

Since their humble beginnings in a freezing cold farmhouse near Rochdale in the Winter of 2006, this band’s music has gelled and matured into the funkiest, most energetic and powerful music you shall hear from the British folk music scene today.
Against all the odds, young folk fusion band 4 Square have returned in 2010 to deliver a brand new album, ChronicLes.
With the band's four members scattered across the land, it wasn't looking likely at the start of the year that the band would be able to come together and record a follow up to 2009's debut, 20:20 Manchester.
But, buoyed by the phenomenal response to the band's live engagements at festivals and folk gatherings up and down the country last year
(not least at Fairport's Cropredy Convention, where the band sold more CDs than any other artist in the event's forty year history history), the musicians came together over the Christmas holidays to write and begin recording this superb follow up, produced by 4Square and renowned young producer, Andy Bell.
ChronicLes is a significant step forward for the band, both in terms of production values, standard of material chosen and even the musicianship contained therein, which, with 4 Square, has always been extraordinarily impressive considering the band members age.
Combining British folk music with Latin rhythms and riffs, all underpinned by 4 Square's trademark funky and jazz-inflected edge, ChronicLes is an album which is unashamed to display the prodigiousness of it's contributing musicians abilities, but also one that presents itself with a welcoming smile and a great sense of humour. Upon hearing, it's obvious that 4 Square enjoyed making this record and now they can't wait to take it on the road to their summer shows, which include dates in Prague, Denmark and Corfu, as well as the regular British festivals!
The album is now available to download on iTunes or can be pre-ordered from Amazon, Play.com, HMV and System Records.
