Biography:

Nigel Lewis is one of the godfathers of Psychobilly. Together with P.Paul Fenech he made up the Meteors back in 1979 and never stopped rockin ever since.
He left the Meteors after the first long player but his dark mind came to surface again in the Escalators and the Tall Boys. He was the mastermind behind these bands with his guitar and his unique voice. A few years ago Nigel decided to get a few guys together for a new project known as Nigel Lewis and the Zorchmen. The other band members were well known in our scene. Choppy (Caravans, Demented are Go and many other bands) playing bass, Ginger on drums (Ricochets and second drummer of the Meteors, Guana Batz) and Doyle (Klingonz,Demented are Go) on guitar. They toured for a while and did some really good festival gigs. One of them on the 20th Satanic Stomp in Speyer, back in 2007. What a gig! In May 2009 Nigel played on Nutty Dave´s wake (see you in hell, old fella) at the Gaff in London. As Choppy was not available that night, Nigel decided to play bass himself. It was a revelation. To see the first bass player of our scene playing a double bass again was thrilling. Most of us even didn´t know what Psychobilly is when he did that on stage for the last time. The reaction of that gig was that great that he decided to go on as a three piece and this is what you will see in Speyer for the very first time in Germany. Mr Nigel Lewis on double bass, playing all the old Meteors and Tall Boys stuff like Teenager from Outerspace, Rockabilly Psychosis, Brandnew Gun and many more.
Created from the minds of humans and spacemen!

Press:

“NIGEL LEWIS & THE ZORCHMEN ‘Ain’t What I Call Rock N Roll’ (Diablo) Nigel and the Zorchmen go together like serial and killer. 4/5 I would imagine we all know who Nigel Lewis is, and most of us know who Ginger and Doyley are too. Together they are the almost perfect combination. Tombstone granite drumming danced all over by some superb Rockabilly guitar riffage is just what the deadpan monotone vocal delivery of Nigel that is his trademark needs. Nigel also takes on bass duties just as he did all those years ago with the Meteors and aurally you can hardly tell the decades that have passed. Lyrically the songs are generally spot with topics dear to his heart covered, you know the score. All that’s left to be said is that it’s bloody good. Simon Nott”
