Biography:

SoundWave is Maui’s premiere retro instrumental surf rock band, having played together for eleven years, rehearsing twice weekly without fail and playing publicly for an enthusiastic following.

The band’s repertoire includes polished arrangements of classic instrumental hits familiar to aficionados worldwide from such artists as The Ventures, Dick Dale, The Astronauts, The Blue Hawaiians, The Lively Ones, Laika & The Cosmonauts, The Bel Airs, The Aqua Velvets, The Blue Stingrays, The Tornadoes, The Boss Martians, The Eliminators, and The Pyramids.

The Surf genre is only part of the band’s complete repertoire of more than 80 songs. SoundWave is equally at home swinging through Errol Garner’s “Red Top,” cruising with The Crusaders’ “Put It Where You Want It,” rocking out with Cream’s “White Room,” or blistering through Jeff Beck’s “Brush With The Blues.”

Latin tunes, R&B classics, jazz standards, and instrumentalized rock tunes are all rendered in an identifiable style that is uniquely SoundWave.

The band has done three live broadcasts/webcasts on Maui’s community supported low-power Mana’o Radio, KEAO-LP 91.5 FM (http://ManaoRadio.com). SoundWave has played on AKAKU-TV, Maui’s community TV station, and has gigged all over the island.

The band has been doing an early evening performance for the past several months at The Green Banana Café in the North Shore beach town of Pa’ia. The band sets up outdoors under a big lanai, so it becomes a big street party with visitors and locals alike drifting in off the street to groove to SoundWave’s tightly-polished and infectious groove.
