A Social State is a Rock and Roll Indie band from Scranton, Pennsylvania.
"If you took the vocal melodies of Manchester Orchestra, the musicality of Saves The Day or Brand New, threw in the Atmospheric Experimentation of Radiohead and the Energy of Nirvana you would get something close to A Social State. As a band, "ASS" have been writing, recording, and performing since early 2009, and as individual musicians boast an impressive total of 60+ years of Rock and Roll Experience between them. They have played music showcases and have toured up and down the east coast as well as the mid-west."
A Social State have officially finished recording their Second LP titled "How to Get to Heaven" with Producer Steven Haigler at his VuDu Studios in Port Jefferson, NY. Run by himself and equally phenomenal producer Mike Watts, Haigler has worked with such artists as: The Pixies, Brand New, Fuel, Local H, The Dear Hunter, As Tall As Lions, and Robert Plant just to name a few. As fate would have it, Steve heard A Social State's previous self-produced record "Everyone's Your Friend" via online stream. Impressed by the bands decision to record the disc not only live, but to analog tape, Steve contacted the band about possibly working together in the future. The months that followed saw both the band and producer bonding as lovers of genuine honesty and deep emotion in music. Together they would spend the next year recording what would become "How to Get to Heaven". Steven's years of professional experience coupled with his world class studio brought smart production and a methodology that showcased the bands best parts while retaining their integrity and sound.
A Social State officially released "How to Get to Heaven" Saturday, September 6th, 2014 to a large, passionate crowd of Fans, Friends, and Families in their hometown of Scranton, PA.
A Social State is:
Ed Cuozzo - Lead Vocals/Guitar
Jon Fletcher - Backing Vocals/Bass
CJ Williams - Lead Guitar
Nick Ogonosky - Drums
"Everyone’s Your Friend transports you back to the early 2000s, when that emotional, immediate rock ‘n’ roll sound ruled. The record is at times driving, fun rock ‘n’ roll with a soul while at other times it’s more serious, subtle and melodic"
"One aspect of A Social State that really stands out are the vocals of lead singer Ed Cuozzo. His voice has this quality that harkens back to Pinkerton-era Rivers Cuomo. And frankly, don’t we all miss that era of Weezer? He has this soulfulness, this emotion to his voice that really makes you focus on and grasp the lyrics."
"So if you are thirsting and longing for a new voice in the rock scene, a new band to get behind and believe in, listen to A Social State."
Bill Bodkin - Pop Break
"Their latest project, Everyone's Your Friend, is a
classic full-length album release that should be respected and admired"
"Each track brings strength to the album further
making one of the top projects I've listened to in the past 6 months by an indie rock band."
"I would not be shocked if I saw these guys pick up a major record deal and grab a
Grammy nod before 2012 is up. All they need is the support of an awesome fanbase and
the help of someone who can get them there"

“A Social State compare themselves to bands such as Colour Revolt, Saves The Day, Nada Surf, and The Pixies. If you are a fan of any of these bands then I think A Social State should be right up your alley, and I would highly recommend that you give this top notch album a listen...”
Dave G. - United By Rocket Science
“With songs like “Arcadia” that are ear-piercing, and that involve a bad ass dramatic bass line, it’s hard for me to press pause on my Ipod. With that said A Social State may be one of the best unsigned bands out there for me right now”
Nayeli - unsigned and unleashed
“Coming from a community that has produced Title Fight, The Menzingers, Tigers Jaw, Breaking Benjamin and more, A Social State is continuing the music pedigree from Scranton, PA. The band's debut full length, Everyone's Your Friend, is a cornucopia of wailing vocals, layered guitars and booming drums that fits perfectly in the modern indie rock scene. Recorded on 2 inch tape on live tracking in the studio, it seems to hard to imagine that the songs are created by only 4 people.
