Celebrating common loves (faith, family and music) at home and on stage, Crawford Crossing is...
Hailing from Gate City, VA, Crawford Crossing is...friends, family and partners for life.
“We are childhood friends who have graduated and grown to become adults—we’re ‘Married With Children’.”
“We have memories behind us, a lifetime before us and nine children between us.”
Formed as “official” in 2009, the trio is a breath of fresh air—no manufactured parts, songs with substance and a sound that is “easy on the ears.” Family-friendly, the “equal parts” group incorporates traditional country themes with edgy accents to validate their appreciation for wonderfully simple and complex music—in the vein of the music that influenced them as young adults (Jeff and Sheri Easter, Crabb Family, Doyle Lawson, Diamond Rio, Dolly Parton, Rascal Flatts and Patty Loveless).
“Our fans can expect true life songs with true-to-life meaning and 100% heart.”
In the running with Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town and Gloriana, Crawford Crossing is a family band--a God-given natural occurrence featuring the 3-D, dynamic vocal stylings of Tabitha Crawford (lead vocalist), her brother, Israel Crawford (who is a musician, songwriter and shares lead vocals), and Israel’s wife, Whitney.
Simply stated, the music of Crawford Crossing has a common thread identifiable by each and every listener, young and old. Playful or serious, their concise lyrics focus on circumstance. The “everyday” messages highlight inspiration, happiness, humor, the tension of love, reflection, life-unexpected and the beauty each day brings. Harmonies, distinctive only to Crawford Crossing’s Tabitha, Israel and Whitney, create both a vocal intensity and subtlety as pleasing to the palate as a fine red wine or frosting on cake.
“The power in Tabitha’s voice enables her the ability to show raw emotion with every note; she adds drama and definition to our sound.”
“Israel brings soul; he has an a unique and undeniable vocal with magnetism (vocally and musically) that pulls the listener into the performance.”
“Whitney is our ‘softer’ side; she’s like the hidden treasure that weaves between the lines to meld our vocals together.”
Notable contenders in the Christian format, Crawford Crossing staked their claim producing Top 40 hits (including: “I Run To You,” “He Knows Your Name,” “He Knows Best,” “He Can Never Ask Too Much Of Me,” and “The Heaven I’m Headed To”); the trio’s album, TURN UP THE MUSIC (as released to the Christian Music market), received a Dove and AGM Award Nomination for "Country Album Of The Year” (2011). The band appeared on TBN, Daystar and INSP (The Inspirational Networks).
Revisiting their journey, personal experiences, lifestyle and surrendering to heart tugs, Crawford Crossing made the transition to country—heading toward a destination that is “meant to be.”
“Our strong faith remains in our music and our lives; we are now just singing from a more personal, true-to-life perspective—love stories and love ‘em and leave ‘em stories.”
“There are people who need a ‘pick-me-up,’ want to hear a tune about a pick-up truck, or have a good cry; we sing the music we love to folks who love country music!”
Crawford Crossing introduced their debut mainstream country EP in June 2012 with special appearances at CMA Fest. Produced by Terry Thompson, the five-song work product is the band’s third studio release on Willow Creek Records Nashville. The debut single, entitled “Every River She Crosses," is receiving a welcoming response from country radio and its listeners.
In faith and on stage, united they stand. With God and family as their foundation, their passion for music, love, respect and belief in one another, is the Crawford Crossing distinction. Crawford Crossing is the sum of family; the sum of many and the one for all to enjoy.
~THE MUSIC~
Featuring a hint of Bluegrass elements, “Every River She Crosses” mutually demonstrates the strength of the unison parts offset by the vocalists’ individuality. Israel, Tabitha and Whitney do not rely on their harmonies, but rather, depend on their musicality and judgment as to when the lyrics should carry the weight and when the harmonies should shine.
“Don’t Leave The Leavin’” will fit comfortably in the mainstream country format. With a vocal and emotional styling reminiscent of the McGraw/Hill hit, “Just To Hear You Say You Love Me,” or Faith Hill’s “Let Me Let Go,” this track is a powerful and intimate conversation between two lovers who reveal they are in the same place—at a crossroads. Both keenly aware the relationship is over, neither is strong enough to be the one to leave.
The “WOW!” moments in “Beautiful Life” boast the talents of Crawford Crossing. A “life is good” chronicle (no matter the weather, no matter the hurdles), the engaging, energetic beat and rhythmic banjo, in combination with lead singer Israel’s smooth vocals complimented by the Tabitha and Whitney’s soaring harmonies, showcases just how good they are.
Country music fans and radio DJs who applauded Mark Chesnutt’s “Thank God For Believers” will fall in love with “She Took Him Back.” Simple instrumentation is a fitting support for the raw and vulnerable vocals. The full-circle storyline is inspirational and brings “true love” to life.
“Some Things Go Together” sums up the trio to perfection—brother and sisterhood and the union of husband and wife, Crawford Crossing has clearly cultivated the perfect combination—with effortless harmonies and intuitive singing that is only possible by love that binds. Tabitha and Israel’s voices blend seamlessly into one, and Whitney’s appearance on high harmonies adds the finishing touch to set Crawford Crossing apart from any other country group in the market today.
